Madam Zhudanna[4] (pronounced /ʒəˈdɑːnə/) is the elderly landlady of Imogen and Laudna at the beginning of Campaign Three. As an NPC, Zhudanna is played by Matthew Mercer.

Description[]

Appearance[]

Zhudanna is an older woman with billowing white hair worn past her shoulders to her mid-back, and bright beady brown eyes. Her skin is deep brown and wrinkled.[5] When first seen, she was wearing a soft comfortable robe for the night, scrubbing dishes and cleaning up.[6] She wears glasses.[7]

Personality[]

Zhudanna is a kind and generous soul. She barely knew Laudna, Imogen, and their adventurer friends but was absolutely certain that they were very sweet. When she was first introduced to the rest of the group, she immediately offered them space on the floor since she was out of beds, and began trying to stretch her lunch to feed them all.[8]

As an old lady, Zhudanna is not as agile as she once was. When she cooked up a meal for her tenants, Zhudanna gratefully sank into a chair, as Laudna offered her to finish the dishes.[9] Also, whenever Imogen and Lauda were at her house, Zhudanna sent them on the missions for the groceries.[10][11] She enjoys knitting.[12]

Biography[]

Zhudanna lives in a house she owns in the Windowed Wall neighborhood of Jrusar, at the base of the Core Spire.[13] She has been married and widowed. Her husband at some point worked with the Wardens.[14] At the beginning of Campaign Three, Zhudanna was renting space to Imogen and Laudna in the room where her husband once lived.[15] They helped her deal with shade creepers in her late husband's bedroom and she filled them in on the history of Lord Ariks Eshteross.[16]

Zhudanna was a potter, augmenting the family's income with her rare semi-translucent creations made with arcane aid.[17]

The old lady kept Laudna and Imogen's room ready for them, allowing them to come and go, and being friendly towards their friends. The two sorcerers were respectful around her, although they also worried about her health and old age. During the apogee solstice Imogen contacted her via Sending to ask if she had seen Laudna; although confused by the nature of the spell, Zhudanna confirmed that she hadn't seen the warlock, after which, still confused about where Imogen was, she offered her some juice.[18] Imogen and Laudna visited her that same day, and the landlady was very happy to see them both; she admitted that times had been strange lately and she hadn't feel very comfortable leaving home, but the money the two sorcerers had given her had been enough to cover her usual expenses; she had even been painting lately. Zhudanna offered to prepare Laudna and Imogen's room for them, but they kindly declined the offer (as they were going on an adventure again), offering instead to buy the food for her so she wouldn't have to go out; the landlady agreed, and they did as requested.[19]

The last time the party checked in with her, Zhudanna was doing well. She had rented out Laudna and Imogen's old room to a young and earnest student named Prism Grimpoppy.[20]
