The Wildwood Byway is a road that bisects the Dividing Plains of Tal'Dorei, connecting Kraghammer in the north to Syngorn in the south.[1]

Description[]

The Wildwood Byway begins at the base of the Cliffkeep Mountains in the dwarven city of Kraghammer and travels south through the Wildwood Valley for which the road is named. It crosses the Byhills River before connecting to the Silvercut Roadway, forming the Silvercut Crossroads. It then continues south, curving around the west side of the Ironseat Ridge to the city of Kymal. Further south it merges with the Emerald Path and enters the Verdant Expanse, terminating in the elven city of Syngorn at the eastern edge of the Stormcrest Mountains.

Travel along the Byway is generally no more dangerous than the Silvercut, though it is common knowledge that the wooded ends of the Byway are the most dangerous areas.[1]

History[]

The Wildwood Byway is the oldest road in Tal'Dorei, linking Kraghammer and Syngorn before humans emigrated to the continent from Issylra. During the reign of Drassig, the Silvercut Roadway was constructed and intersected the Byway. After the relationship between Syngorn and Kraghammer deteriorated during the Scattered War when the dwarven city allied itself with Drassig, the road began to be primarily used by the Kingdom of Tal'Dorei. The Byway is sometimes called the "Traitor's Stair" by Syngornian elves, referring to its terminus in Kraghammer.[1]
