The White Duke was a master bard, a founding member of the Golden Grin, and founder of the school known as the College of the Savvy.
Biography[]
During the the Scattered War and the reign of the Kingdom of Drassig, the White Duke was among the bards and performers that founded the Golden Grin.[1]
The White Duke also founded a small school for the arts called the College of the Savvy in Westruun's Scholar Ward, across the way from the Cobalt Reserve;[2] later the school would be commonly known as the College of the White Duke.[3]
Before he died, the White Duke gifted Mythcarver, one of the Vestiges of the Divergence, to his friend the androsphinx Kamaljiori.[4] One of the reasons Ioun gave for Scanlan Shorthalt being eligible to earn her blessing was that he carried the White Duke's blade and walked a parallel path.[5]

- The name "White Duke" is a reference to one of David Bowie's stage personas, the Thin White Duke.[6]
- According to Matthew Mercer there are places in Exandria in which people disguised as the White Duke or as Scanlan Shorthalt officiate weddings (just like Elvis Presley in Las Vegas).[7]
