Weird Kids is a Beacon.tv exclusive video-podcast series featuring Ashley Johnson and Taliesin Jaffe talking about their experience as child actors on Hollywood sets, "unraveling their eccentric childhoods, swapping behind-the-scenes stories, and embracing their delightfully unique interests that set them apart."[5]
Other segments of the show will take Ashley and Taliesin on field trips called "Touching Grass" to explore weird things beyond the confine of the set.[6]
Production[]
Weird Kids was only available on Critical Role's membership service Beacon.tv. To celebrate the new series, Ashley, Taliesin and the rest of the cast of Critical Role were part of a live launch party with a Q&A hosted by Marisha Ray on Beacon, YouTube and Twitch on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 7pm Pacific. The launch party talked about the making of the show as well as a one hour sneak peak of some of the best moments of the first three episodes of Weird Kids. VOD and podcast were available everywhere on Tuesday, March 25th. Subsequent episodes were released only on Beacon.com every Tuesday at 5am Pacific but teasers from the show were posted on the Weird Kids YouTube channel.
During a Fireside Chat with Ashley Johnson and Taliesin Jaffe on Beacon, it was announced that a new segment will join the show called "Weird Kiks Mail Bag" where fans can send their weirdest questions and weird stories to Ashley and Taliesin.[7]
Theme song[]
The theme song for Weird Kids was composed by Los Angeles based artist Dave Heatwave. The song is first featured at the end of the second episode of Weird Kids that came out April 1st, 2025. It was made available April 8th on all streaming platforms.[8] Throughout the opening title sequence several cast and crew members can be seen in addition to Ashley, Taliesin, and Dave Heatwave himself. Lore Keeper Dani Carr and producer Kirby Winslow, but aslo Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, Sam Riegel, and Liam O'Brien can be seen interacting with Ashley and Taliesin.

Trivia[]
- "Tashley" was the code name used by the crew to designate both Ashley and Taliesin during the production of the show.[10]
- The working title of the show for a while was "Something with Ashley and Taliesin" and they even considered keeping that title.[11] "I Have Thoughts" and "Am I on Speakerphone?" were alo ideas for the title.
- Both Ashley and Taliesin were deeply involved with the set design. The majority of the memorabilia is from the homes and personal lives of Ashley and Taliesin.[12] On the set there's also photos of the cast of Critical Role when they were kids.[13]
- Dave Heatwave, from his real name Andrew Miller, is the brother of Matthew Mercer. He also composed under the name "Pontoon" some tracks on Mighty Vibes with his and Matt's father, Miki Miller.
- Per Ashley and Taliesin, if Fearne Calloway and Ashton Greymoore (their characters from Campaign Three: Bells Hells) had to make a podcast, it would be like Weird Kids, although they would probably be more obnoxious. Ashley and Taliesin are like less obnoxious versions of Fearne and Ashton.[14]
