Background[]
Warren was believed to have been born under the light of a flare of Ruidus.[2][3] He became a powerful oligarch in the chaotic city of Emon. He took advantage of the existing unrest and fragmented factions within the city to seize power and declare himself the first king of the Kingdom of Drassig. He quickly cut all existing ties with Syngorn in favor of the wealthier Kraghammer. The elves of Syngorn, already on strained terms with the human colonists of Tal'Dorei, saw this as a betrayal, but still attempted a diplomatic approach. Yenlara's grandson was sent to Emon as an ambassador but upon his arrival he was summarily arrested and tortured before being killed. Syngorn declared war on the kingdom in response, in what would become the long and costly Scattered War.[4] Drassig chose to use this as an excuse to conquer many of the smaller, isolated human colonies in the name of expanding his kingdom and fighting the war.
During one of these conquests Drassig led his army to capture the village of Torthil, rumored to be sheltering refugees. After searching the nearly abandoned town for survivors, the army gathered in the center of town, where Drassig began to give a victory speech. At this point, an alliance of Syngorn elves and human rebels struck, killing the king with their arrows.[5]
Warren Drassig was succeeded by his eldest son, Neminar.[5]
