A Warder is a kind of automaton utilized for attack, defense, and transportation of goods and equipment.

Description[]

Warders are massive automata standing 15 to 20 feet tall. Their metallic bodies are round and semi-hollow, where an operator sits to control the warder and which can hold cargo. They are supported by thick heavy legs, and have massive battering ram-like fists.[2] Glyphs are engraved along their bodies.[3] In battle, a door in the body can open and flamethrowers descend to inflict fire damage in a 30-foot cone.[4]

History[]

Bells Hells first encountered a warder, which they fought and defeated, at the Tishtan excavation site where they were being utilized by the Ruby Vanguard forces guarding the Malleus Key.[5] Later, Fresh Cut Grass was able to wire himself into the fallen warder in place of its destroyed power cord, gaining control over it. The rest of the party (except Orym and Imogen) were able to crowd into the belly of the automaton and gain access to the inner site that way. When FCG attempted to use the warder to pick up the petrified Planerider Ryn, he accidentally knocked a wall onto her, and Ludinus Da'leth deactivated the automaton, temporarily trapping FCG inside.[6]

When the party returned to Jrusar shortly after the Apogee Solstice, they noticed warders among the military now amassing in the town.[7] At least one warder was present among the forces defending the Malleus Key when Bells Hells began their reconnaissance mission.[8]

Abilities[]

  • Fire attack: The warder can spray fire in a 30-foot cone, requiring a Dexterity save for half damage.[9]
  • Fist attack: The warder makes two fist attacks causing ~11-19 bludgeoning damage each, knocking an opponent prone if they fail a DC 18 strength save.[10]
  • AC: 20[11]
  • Hit Points: about 110
  • Size: Huge[12]
  • Immunities: Fear[13]

Lightning attacks are at advantage against the warder.
