Alongside his shipmate Zoen, Waldark is told to sleep on deck and to give up his quarters to the Mighty Nein who where recently indoctrinated into the Squall-Eater's crew under duress.[3]

During some point on their journey to Darktow Isle Waldark is transfered across from the Squall-Eater to crew The Mistake, Jester encounters him receiving a tattoo of a Mermaid grasping a piece of fruit from Orly Skiffback and after asking to apprentice under Orly is given reluctant permission by Waldark to attempt to fill in a portion of his tattoo which she does with good skill.[4]

After docking at Darktow Waldark returns to the Squall-Eater and is one of the crewmen on watch for the night when he notices a disturbance in Captain Avantica's office. When he enters the room to investigate he sees nothing initially, before suddenly plungeing through a circular hole in the floor that had been covered by the room's rug. He falls ontop of his sleeping shipmate Zoen who in panic stabs Waldark multiple times before realising his identity, Zoen having inflicted serious injuries to Waldark proceeds to help him off the ship and to the nearby Leaky Cup[clarify] in search of aid. Upon seeing Waldark's injuries as they enter the tavern, Caduceus Clay voluntaraly heals Waldark with great success and buys him a drink in sympathy. Waldark displeased with Zoen punches him in the face as he attempts to apologise for injuring him, with Waldark remaining angry with Zoen for the remainder of the night. As the night does progress and Waldark drowns his sorrows becoming increasingly drunk Beauregard enters the tavern, and buys Waldark a drink and tries to imply the fact that she was there all night hoping to create a false alibi for her involvement with the raid on Avantica's office. (A raid Waldark nearly discovered, the hole he fell through being the escape route for Nott and Jester, who only escaped detection from him by hiding under Zoen's bed) In his drunken state however he pays Beauregard little heed, still bitterly aurguing with Zoen.[6] Template:Citation needed

During the following morning he, along with all members of the crew from both the Squall-Eater and The Mistake are summoned to the deck of the Squall-Eater by Captain Avantica for questioning about the previous night's events. He tells Avantiva his version of the events that happened, with Zoen once more being apologetic. Avantica thanks Caduceus for his help in healing Waldark and Bark. (also injured in the events of the night) with Vera then casting a spell to find the stolen objects only for Caleb Widogast to suddenly cast wall of flame. [7] Template:Citation needed
