Vuthos is a fire giant city in Wildemount. It is located beneath Mount Mentiri.[1]
History[]
At some point between the Calamity and 835 PD, fire giants built this city around the prison of Desirat the Twilight Phoenix, once the mount of Asmodeus, sealed by the original Cerberus Assembly.[1]
Followers of this fiendish idol had gathered since the founding of Kamordah and were destroyed by the Julous Dominion,[2] but whether and how they interacted with Vuthos has not been described, and the fire giant inhabitants were there at least through 835 PD.[1]
Around the apogee solstice of 843 PD there was a big earthquake and Mount Mentiri split in two, as Desirat was released from her prison.[3] The effects on the fire giant city surrounding her prison have not been described.

- Its name could derive from the Ancient Greek bathús, meaning "deep/profound", and can also reference the color of twilight.
- The adventure hook Twilight Phoenix in the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, set in 835 PD, involves archmages who worship Asmodeus attempting to sunder the mountain and free his mount from her prison.[1]
