Plot summary[]

Inside Allura Vysoren's tower, she tells the party that Sovereign Uriel has been becoming increasingly isolated, with his wife Salda Tal'Dorei insisting on attending all meetings with him. The group tells her Gregory Fince is dead and General Krieg may be involved in the strangeness she described, gaining her trust. She and Keyleth Scry on the Throne Room, but Uriel senses their intrusion and the spell is broken. They realize he is now being demonically controlled, and that Spireling Modeth Lai may have some answers. The party (including Trinket) breaks into the headquarters of the Clasp, where they battle and defeat Modeth's forces. He immediately raises the fallen as undead, but Grog decapitates him. Since Modeth cannot now be questioned, and failing to find any incriminating documents, the party starts on their way out, but are confronted by another dangerous spireling along the way. Scanlan, in his guise as "Burt Reynolds, Esquire", Inspector of Illicit Goods, tries to convince him to let them go, and the spireling agrees since they've eliminated a dangerous rival.

When they reach Allura's home, they find the door unlocked and the tower empty and apparently ransacked. While they investigate, Grog finds a shiny orb and touches it, triggering a trap that begins collapsing the tower around them.
