Vitro Isham to Fresh Cut Grass[1]
[!h]

Vitro Isham is a firbolg professor of automaton studies at the Aydinlan Seminary in Yios. As an NPC, he is played by Matthew Mercer.

Description[]

When encountered by Bells Hells, Professor Isham was a very tall and thin firbolg with soft maroon fur, a thin red-fur mohawk falling to one side, and large front teeth. He wore large multi-lensed glasses.[2]

Biography[]

In 843 PD, Isham was the Aydinlan Seminary professor of independent arcane locomotion, abjuration and enchantment, implementation and automaton engineering.[3] When he inspected FCG, he immediately determined they were a "Harmonious Aeormaton", and confirmed FCG was possibly one of the assassin aeormatons used in The Care and Culling attack by Aeor on their political rivals and enemies.[4]

Relationships[]

Isham had a professional connection with Imahara Joe, whom he considered one of the greatest minds of automaton and arcane locomotion in Marquet.[5]

Appearances and mentions[]

Quotations[]

  • Vitro Isham: (to FCG) You are both a relic of history and a very unique, special person. [...] A lot of the Aeormatons worked very hard during that period of time to establish themselves as equals amongst their creators. There was a long period of Aeorian history in which they were just considered servants. As much as Aeor gets a lot of negative information written about it, and rightly so, there was also a beauty in some of what they made, yourself very included, so you should not be unfair to where you came from. [...] You are not defined by what you are told your purpose was. You carve your own path. Besides, if you don't really have memories of anything before that, then that's really not who you are.
FCG: I suppose so. That's scary, though.
Vitro: Yeah. Being alive is very scary. Being conscious. Free will. Frightening. But also, worth everything.[6]
  • Vitro: (to FCG) You're more beautiful than a simple binary answer.[7]

Trivia[]

  • His name comes from the Latin vitrum (glass). His name seems to be a combination of the Alemannic German ise (iron) and the Old English hām (homestead). His full name seems to be a reference to the type of work he has as an engineer and the materials he uses.
  • His areas of expertise suggest that his specialty might be enchantment and/or divination magic.
