Vidulchen[1] (singular vidulch (pronounced /vɪˈdʌltʃ/)) are insectoid siege monsters that live on Ruidus.

Description[]

Vidulchen are insects of massive size, 15 feet or taller in height. They have a long crested head with multiple spikes and a segmented body, mantis-like claws, and multiple tiny legs bearing smaller blades.[2]

History[]

The Dominion of Cruth has vidulchlords in its ranks who control these creatures,[3] and among their ranks is the Sunder King himself, Ozo Cruth.[4]

When Fearne Calloway, Ashton Greymoore and FCG were moving through Vaterra Kreviris with Ira Wendagoth they noticed that several creatures were being kept in the city, including vidulchen.[5] Later, while the rest of Bells Hells were inspecting an arcane laboratory inside the Prime Pillar, they fought some reilora, and one of them released an adolescent unfinished vidulch that attacked the adventurers. The creature, however, hadn't yet completed its development; during the battle its body started to melt and Chetney Pock O'Pea killed it.[6]

In the commotion caused by the detonation inside one of the tunnels of Vaterra Kreviris, several soldiers were seen accompanied by vidulchen.[7]

On Exandria, enlarged and armored vidulches were used in the attack and destruction of an encampment of the Exandrian Accord.[8]

Abilities[]

The adolescent, unfinished, and weakened vidulch encountered in the Weave Mind laboratory in Kreviris displayed the following abilities:

  • Multiattack: (five total, any combination), plus Corroding Spit:[9]
    • Scythe claw (9-22 damage)[10]
    • Razor mandible (did 12 piercing + 7 acid damage)[11]
  • Corroding spit: (did 16 damage) DC 16 or less Dexterity save for half damage[12]
  • AC: 19[13]
  • Hit points: more than 200
  • Dexterity: 18-19[14]

Trivia[]

  • The Jagged Edge is at the base of a sculpture representing a vidulch skull.[15]
  • The adolescent vidulch fought by several of the party was being grown inside a glass tube in a laboratory,[16] but it is unclear if the entire species is artificial or if that particular specimen was part of some genetic experiment.
