Valley aurochs are wild cattle that inhabit the Marrow Valley of the Dwendalian Empire.
Appearance
Valley aurochs resemble buffaloes, with thick, muscular bodies and large, outward-curving horns.[1]
History
Despite having resided in the Marrow Valley, Veth Brenatto was not familiar with the valley aurochs when the party saw the creatures at night, and her human companions who grew up in other parts of the Dwendalian Empire hadn't heard of the buffalo-like creatures either.[2] Bryce Feelid later identified them for the party.[3]
Abilities
- Charge: If the aurochs moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a gore attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 2d8 piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Actions:
- Gore: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d8 + 5 piercing damage.
Trivia
- "Aurochs" is both the singular and the plural for this animal (similar to "sheep").
- The aurochs is a real-life species of cattle that once inhabited Europe, and it is the ancestor of domesticated cattle. The aurochs was declared extinct when the last recorded aurochs died in Poland in 1627.
