Unend is an audio drama created by Third Person, the three-person team behind Midst and Moonward.
The story[]
"Several decades after the events of Midst and Moonward, a supernatural ship and a remarkable crew set forth on an expedition to explore the highest heights, deepest depths, and furthest reaches of the known Cosmos. But their journey is fraught with peril as they discover truths and realities far stranger than any of them could ever have imagined."[1]
Production[]
The show was created, written, and performed by multimedia performance trio Third Person (Xen, Sarah Wile, and Matt Roen). They are also the creators of the podcasts Midst and later Moonward where they played alongside Liam O'Brien and Marisha Ray. Critical Role Productions LLC acquired Midst in 2023, producing a third season of 19 additional episodes.
In September 2024, Third Person and Critical Role announced Unend, an audio drama podcast set in the world of MIDST and Moonward. It takes place several decades after the three seasons of Midst and the four episodes of Moonward but doesn't require any previous knowledge about the Midst Cosmos. Unend premiered October 9, 2024 with new episodes releasing weekly on Wednesdays. Unend season two premiered June 4, 2025. Beacon members and paid podcast subscribers through Spotify and Apple Podcasts received the episodes two weeks early than YouTube.[2]

Commencing countdown.
They meet two crew members, the married couple Everett Sheerwater and Micky, captain and navigator of the Stagecoach, the ship's lifeboat. Everett is quite familiar and friendly with Mother Artifice, but harbors a dislike for the Granddaughter for unknown reasons. Also, Kanneken Hartevelt, the field reporter of the crew. The crew numbers about 30, comprised of scientists, engineers and technicians. Cleo has brought a pet. The ship is made of dark mica, is capable of altering it's shape and translucency on will of the crew, and generously furnished and equipped. The expedition is meant to go to the limits of the cosmos, and it expected to be a perilous, potentially fatally endeavor. It is steered by an 8ft tall foldlight, containing both light and fold, modified by Amos and Mother Artifice. They launch counted down by the ship's timekeeper, Felix Hustleworth, to fly towards their first stop, the Highest Light, where they will onboard more crew.

A progressive dinner.
The ship reaches the Highest Light, the central hub of the Un, in record time of a day. It is the highest large settlement in the Un. At this height, mica shards are a hazard, and the connected islands of the Highest Light are protected by water curtains and shields. It is alluded that the city underwent major changes since the occurrences in "Midst". Merlin Vot gives a lecture at his university, Bernhard and Gottle, a major funder of the expedition. Other parts of the crew are the boatswain Shanamarian, who has four arms, and the gunners Dune and Yill. The crew also takes up Dr. Ripley Rawfield and the celebrity chef Quino del Belsaban, and his sous-chefs, Voro and Mikelord. After departure, they prepare a lavish dinner to celebrate the start of the exhibition. Cleo's pet, Omlette, turns out to be a fold cat which is more similar to a furred, large, yellow caterpillar. Cleo's family, the Guillemoths, are famous for their fold gifts, but Cleo is secretive about what her own foldgift is. The crew also includes Drury Hambing, a tearrorologist, wo has been shrunk to miniscule size by a tearror. Cleo attemps to befriend everyone, but seemes to be rebuffed by the Granddaughter.
