Tyranny is a demon warlock played by Whitney Moore in Campaign Four.

Appearance[]
Tyranny is a beautiful woman standing at 5'3" (not including the horns). She has bubblegum-colored skin, white hair with blunt bangs, goat-like ears with a single silver arrow piercing, a forked tongue, long tail ending in a heart-shaped spade, hooves, and yellow goat-like eyes. She wears teal and white ruffled vestments that mark her as an Aspirant to the Candescent Creed of the House of Halovar. She has a distinctive and interesting odor somewhat like warm chocolate chip cookies mixed with sulphur.[12]
Personality[]
Tyranny claims to always be honest, but being brand-new to Aramán's plane of existence is totally unaware of social norms and has little concept of morality.[13] She is extremely sociable, and loves meeting new people.[14]
Whitney Moore described her as: "Tyranny is just a girl in the world trying her best and she's very led by impulse. Tyranny is the most unfiltered version of myself, horny and sad, period. Aramán for her, it's a feast for the senses. It's unlimited opportunities of things to experience, both good and bad. Every demon represents a certain ancient archetypal energy. Tyranny does not know what that is inside of her. It is something that isn't quite sitting right with her, but it is one of those drives that is going to be pretty impossible to ignore."[15]
Biography[]
Background[]
At the beginning of the campaign, Tyranny had only arrived on Aramán six months ago, before that having been a formless mass swirling in The Pit of the demonic realm. She was given a body with the explicit purpose of making Wicander Halovar "look good" as a Scion by posing as an Aspirant in the new religion created by House Halovar, the Candescent Creed. Her family had a long-standing relationship with House Halovar, and her service to them was done in exchange for filament and souls to be given to Ksha'aravi, her maker. However, her contract is specifically between her and Wicander, not House Halovar.[16] Not long after arriving in the mortal world, she attended a gala organized by Bolaire Lathalia (Tyranny's first party ever) in the museum; the demon managed to elude security for about fifteen minutes, and when she was finally found, she was throwing up inside one of the three remaining urns of the Eyes of Kelaun.[17]
Campaign Four[]
Overture[]
Six months later Tyranny accompanied Wicander Halovar to the funeral of Thjazi Fang, where she demonstrated her unfamiliarity with social norms by attempting to raid the kitchen cabinets of the Fang family for food, being stopped by Olgud Akarat who explained mortal customs to her. She told Thaisha Lloy that she didn't really like Wicander Halovar while getting drunk on the yahrgraz that was Thjazi's favorite alcoholic beverage; she and the druid ended up bonding and Thaisha told her all about her love life while petting the demon's soft ears. Later, both Tyranny and Wick left the funeral in a hurry; she provoked it by purposely throwing up after realising (thanks to Thaisha) that the priest was talking with Aranessa Royce without noticing her growing anger and tension with him.[18]
The following morning, in Villa Aurora, Tyranny had a brief but uncomfortable conversation with her three sisters, in which they asked her about the funeral and inquired about Wicander's behavior and faith; Tyranny spoke in favor of the priest and revealed she had made a friend, but her sisters were more focused on how they could use that for their own means, and wanted her to keep her perspective about what their purpose in the mortal realm was. After that she welcomed Teor Pridesire and brought him to Wicander, since they had a meeting; the three of them witnessed an accident with a Halovar wagon, and when Teor gracefully approached and helped a wounded worker, both Wick and Tyranny were quite impressed. Their meeting, however, ended early when Photarch Yanessa met Teor and sent him to speak to Sir Filoneus Halovar, telling Tyranny to go with him to find him some food.
Later that day Tyranny learned that Wicander was going to be "promoted"; knowing that would mean he would learn all the dark secrets of the Candescent Creed, and understanding (after the time she spent with him and the lessons he shared with her) that he wasn't aware of most of it, she was worried. When they were on their way to the Prismatic Retort, the demon and the priest had a small debate about Teor not joining their team, and if it would be possible or morally right to fight him if the Photarch told them to; Tyranny also talked with Enmity briefly in Demonic, and her sister told her that she wouldn't have to keep more secrets from the Light Priest much longer, but that didn't make her feel better. As they reached their destination Tyranny started apologizing to Wicander for being difficult with him, and he appreciated the gesture, but they were interrupted when Lady Yanessa called for her grandson. When the Prismatic Retort revealed the feral angel inside it, the blast of wind pushed Wicander away, so Tyranny helped him, and kept holding him as the Photarch presented the celestial as the priest's grandfather, and the source of Filament.[19]

Wick, stunned, agreed to everything his grandmother said, and Tyranny eventually suggested a warm bath to relax. Once in Wicander's private chambers, he confronted her, shocked that she apparently already knew all this. She explained that she was "given a body six months ago" and was told to make him look good. While at first she thought it was funny that he was the only one who didn't know the truth behind the Candescent Creed, she now thought his family was afraid of him because he actually cared. She stressed that her contract was with him, not his family. They both thought they should go see what had happened to Teor, and when they arrived at the Mercanaud Couturier some hours later after dark, she was recognized by the proprietor. She told him that Scion Wicander had come to talk to their "guest" before he was "outfitted", and supported Wicander's lies convincingly. They were successful in freeing Teor, and took him to the home of Halandil Fang, where the group realized that five of their number were in serious danger and needed to get out of town. Wicander was hesitant about the prospect of sleeping outside but was urged by Tyranny to ask for the group's help, and did so. Teor told them he owed them his life and was in their service. The five-- Thimble, Teor, Kattigan, Wicander, and Tyranny, now designated as the Soldiers-- set off northward together in search of justice for Thjazi by confronting Casimir Gavendale.[20]
The journey to Gormalay[]

The group pressed on through the rain, with Tyranny wondering why doing the right thing felt so unpleasant (since she was cold, wet, and Wick was gripping her tail), until they reached the Black Heron Inn at a crossroads, as dawn broke and the storm subsided. There they encountered an orc in a hanging cage, whom Thimble recognized as Abalang Howell, an old friend, who had been imprisoned for stealing Filament. Tyranny shared some fruit leather with him, and after negotiating his discretion regarding having seen them (since Wick was terrible at lying about his identity), Thimble freed him from the cage by forcing the lock. After bidding farewell to the orc (who gave them some advice), the party ventured into the Dahapshanee Wood, and upon reaching a stream, Thimble dove into it; when she came out she explained she had found some of Cyd's hair, learning that he was traveling north and that they had a potential safe haven in Hawthorn's Glade. Tyranny also used that pause next to the river to talk to Wicander, telling him that he didn't have to lie about himself when talking to other people, and instead he should focus on his performance (just as Halandil would do on stage) as what his family originally asked him to do: to spread the good word of his faith; and if he had to defend himself in the process, he would do so rightfully.
After some debate about the safety of Hawthorn's Glade for the entire group, they decided to visit the house Abalang had told them about instead. There they found a goat that started making noise, and Tyranny started copying it, shortly before the owner arrived: Ulbid Morn, a gnomish arcanist and criminal who studied the Stormwrack; he explained the goat acted as an alarm in case demons came, but since Tyranny wasn't trying to eat him, he welcomed them into his home. While they were there, the warlock spent some time with their host, learning about his past and his late wife, Jasavi. They spent the night there, and although Tyranny went to bed at Wick's feet (with the priest giving her his cloak so she wouldn't be cold), she ended up waking up crouched on his chest.[21]
Relationships[]
Wicander Halovar[]
Tyranny acted as Wicander's Aspirant, an acolyte or trainee in the Candescent Creed. Both she and Wick vehemently denied that their relationship was in any way romantic.[22] In fact, she claimed to dislike him,[23] although she was somewhat impressed with him after he scolded her loudly in front of everyone.[24] Despite her dislike of him, she was very angry at Enmity when she realized the family was going to reveal to him where his powers really came from[25], feeling that he was not ready - or able - to handle the information.[26] She apologized to him for her behavior over the past couple months then held him steady as his grandmother introduced him to his grandfather, a captured 30-foot-tall feral angel.[27]
After Wicander was told about his grandfather and the truth behind the Candescent Creed, Tyranny privately confessed to knowing about those things already. She apologized for keeping the secret from him and admitted that when initially meeting him she had found it funny that he actually believed in the fake religion. However, she changed her mind about him, having seen his deep conviction and belief that even a demon like her could be turned towards the light.[28] Although initially she was just hired to make Wicander look good, spending more time with Wick is helping her develop a sense of right and wrong.[29]
Thaisha Lloy[]
Despite knowing her for only a few hours (and having spent most of those getting drunk), Tyranny considers Thaisha a friend, and despite the initial tension, the druid seemed to feel the same.
