The Twinward Isles are a pair of islands among the Swavain Islands, located off the Menagerie Coast roughly 75 miles directly west of Feolinn.[2] They are sacred to the Ki'Nau people, who requested that the islands' natural resources be left untouched when the Clovis Concord was founded. While the isles are open to the public, this request has been carefully honored in the centuries since,[3] although there are a few small villages and trade posts there.[4]

The islands are unexpectedly tall; the shoreline has no beaches, only cliffs that are bountiful with fruits and hunting game.[3] The local waters are choppy due to the Mother's Sigh Reef,[3] which stretch 200 miles from their eastern shore to the shoreline of the continental coast.[2] This makes traveling to the island dangerous, limiting who can make the journey.[3]

There are stories that a couatl spirit is bound to the center of the jungle on the island and those who bring an acceptably large offering may receive wisdom and insight.[3]

Fjord, Jester Lavorre, and Kingsley Tealeaf, along with Orly Skiffback and most of the rest of their crew, were shipwrecked near the Twinward Isles when their ship Nein Heroez was destroyed by a storm giant in search of the third Cloven Crystal.[5]
