Truthbearer is magical plate armor that once belonged to the fabled Uther Vendrock.

Description[]

This platemail armor is made of several pieces of silvered platinum, and includes a multi-hinged helmet adaptable to different types of heads (even those with horns),[1] bracers, gauntlets, and massive spiked multi-plated shoulder pauldrons.[2] It was presented along with a beautiful jet black cape, edged in silver.[3]

The armor is magical and grants additional protection, but also empowers a paladin's healing abilities, adding 30 hit points to their pool for Lay On Hands. Moreover, it allows whoever wears it to use a reaction to impose disadvantage to an attack made against a creature within 5 feet of them (working just like the Protection fighting style).[4]

History[]

This armor once belonged to Uther Vendrock, the Silvered Star, a noble warrior and follower of Bahamut known for his kindness. After his death around 575 PD, the Platinum Sanctuary of Vasselheim kept his armor as a treasure.[5]

After the apogee solstice of 843 PD, Bells Hells were presented in the Dawn City as the perfect agents for a mission against the Ruby Vanguard, and their most recent member, Braius Doomseed, managed to convince most present that he followed the tenets of the Platinum Dragon. However, Highbearer Vord remained suspicious and spoke to Braius later, privately. Braius admitted that he had fallen from grace as a follower of Bahamut, but said he was hoping to regain his trust. It was unclear the extent to which Vord believed him, but since the adventurers needed resources, Vord had a platinum chest brought to them, containing Truthbearer. Vord explained the armor's history to Braius while some assistants helped him take off his old armor and put on the new one, and the minotaur promised to be worthy of the relic.[6]

Trivia[]

  • It is unknown if Uther was the creator of Truthbearer, or if he was just its most recent and famous owner before Braius.
