Trist Drassig (pronounced druh-SIG')[1] was a human man and the last king of the Drassig bloodline before his eventual defeat by Zan Tal'Dorei.
Biography[]
Background[]
After taking the throne following the death of his brother Neminar, Trist focused on ending the Scattered War. However, he had inherited an army stretched thin by years of conflict, and a populace newly enlivened by Zan Tal'Dorei's victories. The tides of the war had turned, and the rebels beat back the Kingdom of Drassig army to the Cliffkeep Mountains.[2] A desperate Trist made a pact with the Demon Prince of Indulgence in order to secure victory,[3] but despite the fiends who joined his forces at the Battle of the Umbra Hills, Zan Tal'Dorei and the allied rebel and Syngorn armies prevailed, slaying Trist and ending the war.[2][4]
"Exandria: An Intimate Appendix - Ruidus and the Gods" (Sx75), narrated from the perspective of the Cobalt Soul centuries later, makes a reference to Trist's father Warren Drassig being a Ruidusborn, then shows Trist in battle against Zan Tal'Dorei and finally shows Graz'tchar, the sword Trist bore when he fell in battle, suggesting that the turmoil and violent end of the Drassig bloodline may have been due to the curse of the Moon of Ill-Omen.[5]
