Toriz, called the Protector by the local dolabos, is a giant toad-like creature and the companion of Jirana.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Toriz is a gargantuan black toad-like creature with two bulbous yellow eyes in front and a third one in the back, standing 25 feet tall and 40 feet wide.[3] It has four arm-like appendages and massive legs with webbed feet.[4] The interior of its body is spacious enough for medium creatures to inhabit it as if it were a house.[5]
History[]
Toriz has been alive for centuries, and has acted as protector and "house" of at least two people, the most recent of them being Jirana.[6] Together they act as guardians of Slival, appearing whenever there is trouble, like Bari Mondolo attacking someone.[7]
At some point in or after 812 PD Keyleth of the Air Ashari visited Slival and met Toriz and Jirana, and she remembered both of them fondly.[8]
After the apogee solstice of 843 PD Bells Hells were sent to Slival, and after encountering Bari Mondolo, their battle attracted the attention of Toriz (just as the dolabos had said), and the giant toad scared the smaller creature away before tossing it into the sea.[9] The adventurers were impressed by the giant toad and its surprising interior, and Jirana talked to them about her friend and "house". Later, when the party needed to go to the shore, the galapa offered help, and Toriz, with impressive jumps, brought them there.[10]
