Titmouse, Inc. is an American animation studio based in Los Angeles, California. It is responsible for producing The Legend of Vox Machina.

History[]

Titmouse was initially founded as a T-shirt company in the year 2000 by spouses Chris and Shannon Prynoski, and named after the bird of the same name. Chris was already known for working on MTV cartoons such as Daria, Beavis and Butt-Head, and his own creation, Downtown. As such, he received multiple requests to work on cartoons, and the t-shirt business was quickly restructured to focus on animation production.

The studio has since expanded to have locations in New York and Vancouver. The studio's filmography extends to film, television and video games.

In October 2020, Titmouse Vancouver became the first animation studio in Canada to join a union.[1] In response to this, some said that the issues raised by the workers of Titmouse were the same ones heard "from unrepresented animation workers everywhere" and that the unionization of the Titmouse workers acknowledges the contributions by animation workers to the industry.[2][3]

The Legend of Vox Machina Animated Intro

Critical Role Productions LLC partnered with Titmouse to create an animated series based on the first campaign of Critical Role. On March 4th, 2019, a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign[4] was launched and an animated intro was released as part of its promoting material. The initial goal was to fund a single episode featuring a new adventure of Vox Machina. Titmouse's facilities in Vancouver handled the animation.

The Legend of Vox Machina quickly surpassed all of its stretch goals, opening the door to more episodes. In November 2019, Amazon partnered on the project, to be seen exclusively on Prime Video and expanding it to two seasons totaling 24 episodes.[5]
