The Kingdom of Timmony is a nation of Pasitar.
The king's banner shows three red hounds on a white field;[3] they honor the current king's father and two brothers.[4]
Description[]
Fan art of local map of Kahad and Timmony, by West Haberlein.[art 2]
Timmony has a gray landscape formed of stones and mist, and a terrain of small wooded hills with woods for hunting and much pastureland, but nothing particularly suited for growing crops, which causes some areas to be dependent on other forms of farming.[5] The areas near the Kavros Mountains are particularly poor, since the towering mountain range casts shadow for half of the day and weakens the plants there.[6]
Timmony is to the north of Kahad,[7] and to the south of the Mournvale.[8] The Dahapshanee Wood is to the south and crosses the border; a hidden fey enclave known as Hawthorn's Glade is near this "invisible line" entering the kingdom.[9]
There are at least two roads connecting Dol-Makjar and Timmony: the Pilgrim's Road, crossing the mountains; and the King's Highway, which leads directly to Timmon's Rock, the capital.[10] In Timmony there are also dirt roads connecting settlements, as well as rivers wide enough for people to travel in ferries.[11]
The area around Pinebrough allows for the existence of a farming community,[12] although in general the terrain of Timmony is better suited for herding than for agriculture.[13]
Vallow[]
Located in the area immediately outside the Dahapshanee Wood and southeast of Gormalay is the fief of Vallow.[14] Its small capital town is Arderin.[15] Vallow is one of several places in Timmony that has the "grant of passage", allowing travelers to move freely across pastures and local people's lands without any legal issues.[16] The area does not have much in the name of roads, instead consisting mostly of footpaths.
Since undead come out of the forest at times, the locals in the area have placed rudimentary traps, fence posts with cords and cowbells tied to them, to warn them of approaching undead.[17] Their rural tradition is for married couples to visit "fairy trees" connected with rope, and leave there tin charms, usually a paw or hounds head, and two letters, etched or poked, tied with red string, asking for luck in their marriage.[18] Closer to the villages, these trees have been cut down due to the high Candesent Creed presence in the area and their common belief that fairies go against teachings of the Creed.
Arderin[]
Arderin is the capital of Vallow. It is a large town with the moated castle of the local earl, and its residents include knights, shepherds, and peasants. The streets are wide and filled with herded animals, and there is a abattoir on a hill.[19] There is also a significant presence of the Candescent Creed.[20]
Society[]
Public office and titles[]
The kingdom of Timmony has a feudal system in which serfs work the land and administration is in the hands of various nobles: a single fief can contain several villages, all under the jurisdiction of an earl, who rules from the capital of that fief; a bigger region, in turn, can be divided into multiple baronies, each with its own ruling baron who takes care of that land and its serfs,[21] and answers to the corresponding earl of the region.[22] The known titles include Knight/Dame, Lord/Lady, Baron/Baroness, and Earl/Countess, and above all of them is the royal figure of the monarch. In Timmony the lands, titles, and responsibilities of a noble family can be inherited through marriage, so that by lack of any other heirs a dowager becomes the new head of their spouse's house after their passing; the succession can also happen through designation, with the current titleholder granting it to another person to become their successor,[23] although it is highly irregular when the designated heir doesn't have any connection with their predecessor,[24] and there must be a confirmation of the title from an authority figure (such as the king himself).[25]
In Timmony, the orders of knighthood are varied, and there are different ranks within them:
- The Order of the Howling Rain appears to be composed of humanoids, although their numbers have dwindled, and their last living member was Baroness Winifred Cosgrove of Sloak.[26]
- The Hounds of the King are a select group of talking dogs, numbering around fivescore, each a knight or dame of the realm by their own right.[27]
When King Gus became the leader of his people he knighted several commoners, and gave them the right to pass the title on to their descendants (so that children of knights or dames could claim those same positions by inheritance). Because of this, there's a group (pejoratively) known as "Knights of the New Morning", composed by those children of knights and dames born into knighthood.[28]
Demographics[]
Timmony has a large human population, as well as some sentient dogs.[29]

Culture and religion[]
Timmony has strong ties with the fey and retains bonds with them and nature, particularly in rural areas.[31] Even in the great cities and in the royal court, druids have influence, and with their help, as part of the king's strategy to create a sense of unifying culture and pride, dogs have become the national animal. Many of them help people across the country, carrying messages, and even acting as agents of the king; the latter are known as the King's hounds, and they use the abundance of dogs everywhere as a cover for their own activities.[32] For this purpose, there are small "temples" dedicated to the dogs everywhere, so that these animals can use them to eat, drink, and rest safely during their journeys.[33]
The Candescent Creed has a growing presence in Timmony, and there is at least one official temple in Gormalay,[34] as well as multiple chapels being built in farmer communities, with the local clergy helping solve problems there;[35] in bigger towns, however, there is more zealotry, and some followers of the Creed are trying to convince the people that the king is a tyrant who casts "shadow" by putting himself above the Light.[36] This movement has opposition, however, as there is a feeling of comradery among veterans who fought for the king, referring to him as King Gus, and being deeply loyal to him.[37]
History[]
Timmony was once a part of the greater nation of Argosia. However, some years after the Shapers' War, a new series of conflict started: collectively known as the War of Axe and Vine, it affected several regions, and Timmony used that chance to fight for its independence. Augustus Valian gained much support and became a very effective leader and soldier to the point where, after defeating Argosia, he was declared the king of their new country; around the year 45, during his ascension to the throne (made official with the support of druids), he declared that anyone who had fought by his side would retain the right of call him by his nickname, "Gus", for as long as they lived.[38] During the Falconer's Rebellion some people from Timmony chose to side with the rebels, and although this kingdom didn't openly favor a side, King Gus allegedly sent support to rebels in Argosia.[39]
In the years previous to the execution of Thjazi Fang, Kattigan Vale and Wulferic lived in Timmony.[40] The wilds in that northern region had become dangerous during that time, particularly near the Dahapshanee.[41]
When Thjazi was to be hanged, Casimir Gavendale left Dol-Makjar chasing after Talcydimir Pridesire, who had stolen his deed of title to a stronghouse in Gormalay (granted by House Tachonis, in control of the Barony of Sloak)[42] before running away.[34] A few days later the King of Timmony left his lands to travel south, to a meeting with the Revolutionary Council.[43]
Trivia[]
- The nobles of Timmony, unlike those of old Obridimia, lack sorcerous bloodlines.[44]
- Surnames with plant references (such as Copsewood, Cosgrove, or Holly) seem to be common in Timmony.
