Thoonum was a storm giant working on behalf of Uk'otoa to recover the third and final Cloven Crystal which would free the leviathan, and place it in its designated location in the final temple. As an NPC, Thoonum was played by Matthew Mercer.

Description[]

Thoonum was extremely tall and strong even for a storm giant.[1] His head alone was 5 to 10 feet wide. He had long, wet, scraggly white hair, green-blue skin, glowing white pupil-less eyes, and a thick, heavy knotted beard filled with kelp and various bits of flotsam.[2] He wore a heavy, intricate breast plate covered in kelp and runic symbols that seemed to glow a similar color to its eyes.[3]

Biography[]

Along with seven deep scions, Thoonum in 837 PD attacked the Nein Heroez while it was in the Lucidian Ocean near the Twinward Isles, seeking the last Cloven Crystal from Fjord. After Jester Lavorre was knocked unconscious in the attack, Fjord relinquished the crystal, but the giant ripped the ship apart regardless. The crew was able to reach land and safety. Later, as the reunited Mighty Nein were racing to the final temple, they were able periodically to see the storm giant also heading towards it, growing constantly closer until it intercepted them at the base of the temple itself. During the ensuing battle, Thoonum was killed after breaking apart the top portion of the temple to reveal the hidden rooms below.
