Thimble is a pixie rogue from Tír Cruthú played by Laura Bailey in Campaign Four.

Appearance[]
Thimble is a four-inch-tall pixie, who appears to be about 18 years old. She has short brown hair, and ordinarily has spring-green wings. She wears dark green clothing and a large button at her waist, and carries two needles as swords.[9] She smells like honeysuckle, and the scent feels effervescent and otherworldly.[10] The pixie dust on her gives her a spring-green golden glow.[11]
Personality[]
Thimble is a stone cold killer with a history and the kind of person who'd start a bar fight,[1] a warrior pixie, and a badass who doesn't take any shit.[12]
She also cares deeply for her close friends, evident when she broke down into tears having heard she failed to save Thjazi.[13] Her priority now is trying to make it right by causing suffering to anybody that did this to him. She believes that if she finishes what Thjazi started, "maybe then I'll feel better."[14]
Biography[]
Background[]
Thimble was born and raised in House Royce, being a member of the clan that took care of the Golden Orchard where they lived.[15][6] She met Thjazi Fang the day of his marriage to Aranessa Royce, being presented inside a prickly poppy-like flower as a sign of the protection of the fey[16] and "to be whatever he wanted her to be." Because he was "a good guy", she became his best friend, companion and partner in everything,[17][18] and was one of the aspects of his renown. Two years after the marriage Thjazi became part of a rebellion against the houses, and Thimble joined him, embracing a life of crime.[19]
Ten years before the beginning of Campaign Four,[20] the doors of Tír Cruthú closed and Thimble, losing the connection to the light of her world, started aging.[21]
One of Thjazi and Thimble's last missions, a couple of months before he was sentenced to death, was to visit the Mournvale, where they stole the Stone of Nightsong from the Sisters of Sylandri.[22]
Campaign Four[]
Overture[]
After it was decided that Thjazi would be executed, Thimble and other companions and friends of the orc devised a plan to free him and allow him to leave the city of Dol-Makjar unnoticed. The pixie's part was very important: she would craft a glyph imbued with conjuration and illusion magic, that she would then place on Thjazi's person; that would allow him, when the moment was right, to use it to cast Misty Step, disappearing from the gallows and reappearing near a caravan outside the city walls.[23] Thimble prepared the glyph as planned, inside a hidden flop house where she and Thjazi kept some of their treasures. However, before she could leave to deliver the item, she was ambushed by seven people; despite being smaller and outnumbered, the pixie fought fiercely and killed three of her attackers, before being knocked unconscious.

Her body, as well as the glyph, were found in a grate hours later, by Teor Pridesire, Azune Nayar, and Occtis Tachonis, with the former reaching her and immediately casting Cure Wounds saving her life. Despite being weak, and with one of her wings still damaged, Thimble started panicking and tried to leave to give the glyph to Thjazi, but Teor explained the situation to her: time had passed, and their common friend had been hanged. She broke down, lamenting the situation (despite Azune's attempt to comfort her) and explaining how she had been attacked before she left with the glyph; that made them realize that someone knew about their plan and had disturbed it, since Azune had detected a magical presence like the one he expected from the glyph when he examined Thjazi. They were joined by Kattigan Vale shortly after, and he helped them find clues, including some signs that pointed to the Crow Keepers as the responsible for the attack; they also discovered that they had taken the Stone of Nightsong, so Thimble drew it and told the others what she knew about it. She then told them that she wanted to see Thjazi's body, and before they left she found a letter she had to deliver to Bolaire Lathalia.[24]

Thimble and the others returned to Thjazi's funeral toward its end, hearing the melody of Broken Wing in the distance as Hal and his youngest daughter, Hero, played to honor the dead. The moment they entered the pixie landed on Thjazi's chest, called him stupid, and told him she apologized, feeling like she had ruined everything and not knowing what to do. When she saw Vaelus she immediately asked if she had something to do with her friend's death, but the elf denied it, saying she just wanted her stone; in response, Thimble said it was gone, and Occtis proceeded to explain the attack against the pixie, while the latter remembered how she met Thjazi. The necromancer then comforted her while she cried; he promised her they would find out what happened, and when she told him he had grown up he made her laugh by replying that so had she, even if she didn't get any taller. After that they spoke for a bit about potential traitors within their plan, and about their plans for the next day, and Loza Blade told Thimble that she wanted to check on the Crow Keepers, she shouldn't go alone. The fairy, still irritated with Vaelus, demanded to know how had she located them, and she refused to tell; Thimble, in turn, declared that she didn't know where the stone had been taken, and for what she knew maybe the thieves didn't want the relic specifically, since they had stolen more stuff. Later, the two of them went upstairs to speak privately, and Vaelus told Thimble she was sorry for her loss, and admitted Bolaire had helped her enter the city. She also misinterpreted the relationship between Thimble and Thjazi by assuming the pixie didn't have free will when the Stone of Nightsong was stolen; Thimble immediately corrected her, commenting how an elf like Vaelus should be aware of the history of her people, and emphasising how special it was for her to be Thjazi's equal. She apologized for taking the artifact from the Sisters of Sylandri, although she immediately added that she didn't really care about why Vaelus wanted it back. When the fairy noticed Pincushion standing right below her she said hi to Occtis through the familiar.
Thimble spent the night preparing Thjazi's body to make sure he was pristine (and taking some of the offerings for herself) and ended up falling asleep on his chest, leaving him covered in glowing golden dust. During breakfast, while Kattigan was eating (in a way that Thimble and others found somewhat disgusting) it was decided that the ranger and Occtis would join the pixie when she visited the Crow Keepers; she was concerned about House Tachonis giving Occtis trouble, but he assured it wouldn't be an issue as long as he was Disguised. When Thaisha asked if they wanted her to come too, Thimble told her she was too respectable for a criminal guild, and the druid was surprised, although that led to them exchanging compliments about how much they respected each other. They then went to The Guard Tower (the tavern where the Crow Keepers gathered); there, Solomon welcomed Thimble, but when she asked if Casimir Gavendale had been there in the last 24 hours, things got tense.[25] Seeing that the criminals were going to stuff her into a bag, Thimble moved quickly and threatened to castrate one of them if they didn't stop, but seeing that a battle was about to start, she hid inside those same pants; they pulled her out almost immediately, however, and put her in the sack while Solomon told her he was sorry for her loss. When Vaelus arrived and killed the pixie's captor, she flew out and threatened the guild members as she cast Faerie Fire. The fight ended with Solomon dead and all the thieves fleeing except for one, Gavrey; while Thimble helped free Wulfric (whose legs had been tied during the fight) they interrogated the last criminal, and he told them that Casimir was the one who had betrayed them, stealing from Thimble to get rid of his debts, and that he had left chasing Cyd after the latter, angry at him, stole a title of deed from him (Thimble then remembered that one of the masked men that attacked her did resemble Cas). The fairy was relieved to know that Teor's brother was innocent, and apologized to Gavrey for Solomon's death, but he replied that she wasn't responsible for starting the fight; when it was suggested to follow Casimir into Timmony, Thimble asked Kattigan if he was willing to join them, and called him a good man when he agreed.
After that the group, accompanied by Vaelus, went back to Hal's home, and near it they found Julien. He was disappointed when they weren't able to tell him where Halandil was, but Thimble used that chance to tell him that Thjazi didn't deserve his hatred; when the knight moved her away, she told her to keep running, and when he asked her to be respectful, she replied she didn't have to watch her language in front of someone that wasn't her better. Julien grabbed her by the wings, causing Occtis to demand her release with his actual voice, despite his Disguise. Sir Julien (after letting the pixie go while she insulted him) told the group that he was looking for Occtis because he might be in danger, before moving away; after a brief conversation with the others, in which Thimble expressed her support and Kattigan slapped him in the ass as encouragement, he followed Julien with Vaelus. Thimble and Kattigan went inside, and eventually were joined by Hal and Thaisha; the latter got immediately angry when Thimble told her Occtis had left, transforming into a wolf, snapping at the pixie (angering her, since everyone was trying to grab her that day), and running away to find the necromancer. Azune and Murray came to the house too, and so did Tyranny and Wicander Halovar, who had rescued a very weak Teor; each of the groups shared new information about their discoveries and the most recent movements of the Sundered Houses that day, and Thimble (despite getting angrier after Wick asked if he could hold her) helped Teor sit down and told him that Cyd had been responsible and faced the actual traitor in their plan, Casimir. Hal was concerned about the people there attracting trouble to him and his family, and Thimble admitted that, while Thjazi's name protected them while he was alive, with him gone things might change. While they were speaking she observed Wicander closely, suspecting that his innocent behavior might be an act, but she determined he was being sincere, and thought it was wise to have a rich ally, declaring that if Teor trusted him so would she; it ended up being decided that the three of them, along with Kattigan and Tyranny, would leave Dol-Makjar to stay away from their enemies and track Casimir. Before they left, Thimble asked Azune to find the people who had hurt Thjazi and were still in the city, and Halandil asked the same to the pixie in the door, inspiring her with those words (with the Lloy nail on top of them amplifying the magic of his Bardic Inspiration). The five members of the new team were then brought to the Falcon's Rest, getting four horses to take with them for their journey.[26]
The journey to Gormalay[]
The group pressed on through the rain until they reached the Black Heron Inn at a crossroads, as dawn broke and the storm subsided. There they encountered an orc in a hanging cage, whom Thimble recognized as Abalang Howell, an old friend, who had been imprisoned for stealing Filament. They fed him, and after negotiating his discretion regarding having seen them, Thimble freed him from the cage by forcing the lock. They chatted for a while about news from the road and the city, and the pixie informed Abs of Thjazi's death, receiving her condolences in response.

After bidding farewell to the orc, the party ventured into the Dahapshanee Wood, and upon reaching a stream, Thimble noticed a nixie watching her from below the surface. She ended up speaking to her underwater (thanks to a bubble created for her): the other fairy introduced herself as Brookmeadow, and after getting confirmation that Thimble was ok traveling with the taller folk, she told the pixie that she had seen Talcydimir moving north across the forest; she also mentioned Hawthorn's Glade, a safe haven for small fey, so Thimble convinced her to give her indications of how to find it, as well as the house of an arcanist Abalang had told them about. As thanks, Thimble offered Brookmeadow a button, making her very happy, and when she returned to the surface she lied about the interaction, claiming she had found Cyd's hair and that had given her the information they needed.
After some debate about the safety of Hawthorn's Glade for the entire group, they decided to visit the house of the arcanist instead. There they found Ulbid Morn, a gnomish arcanist and criminal who studied the Stormwrack and welcomed them into his home. Thimble explored the place and even spent some time with Ulbid watching through his telescope, and learning that people from the kingdom of Timmony were traveling to Dol-Makjar in that moment; she also discovered some toys that used to belong to the gnome's daughters, and after playing with them for a bit, asked him if he could get her a small sword (as an alternative to her needles, in case she needed to cut something). They spent the night there, although the pixie didn't go to bed immediately, instead staying next to the bed for some time, remembering the last time she slept was on top of Thjazi's corpse.[27]
Relationships[]
Thjazi Fang[]
Thimble was for many years Thjazi's closest partner and friend, even during times of war. They met right before his wedding to Aranessa, when as part of the traditions of House Royce, Aranessa gifted the protection of the fey in the form of Thimble, whom had free-will to consent to the arrangement or to leave.[16] Although Thjazi found it odd at first, he and the little fairy bonded, and he even delayed his own wedding for a little bit so that they could find an outfit she liked more than a dress.[28]
He was at her side when the doors of Faerie closed, supporting her, and a decade after that she was determined to save his life when he was made prisoner, regretting not being able to do so, or at least say goodbye to him.[5]
Teor Pridesire[]
Thimble and Teor served together during the Falconer's Rebellion.[29] When Thimble laid dying inside a grate after being attacked, Teor was the first to rush to her, disregarding his own well-being to rip the grate out of the ground and heal her, addressing her very gentle as "little one" while he held her in his hands and comforted her about the death of her dear friend, Thjazi Fang.[30]
Thimble describes Teor as "one of the most honorable people she knows" and was willing to put aside her dislike of Wicander Halovar because Teor had pledged to protect him.[31]
Bolaire Lathalia[]
She acted as the intermediary between Thjazi and the curator. Even though Thjazi didn't trust him and used him like a tool, Thimble was kind to him, and acted as a literal thimble between him and the "prick" that was Thjazi (something that Bolaire appreciated and thanked with small gifts).[32]
Abalang Howell[]
Thimble was familiar with Abalang (or Abs, as she called him), and trusted him enough to share information about Thjazi with him, even if she wasn't that sure about him joining her new group.[33] He, in turn, respected her and her fallen partner, and was thankful for her help getting free of a cage, so he shared clues and advice for her journey.[34]

Trivia[]
- Thimble's name refers to a metal cap used to protect fingertips while sewing. This is one of many sewing references with her character such as wielding needles as weapons and keeping a button on her side.
- During the Victorian era, thimbles were traditionally given as love-tokens and also included in trousseaus chests as wedding gifts, similar to how Thimble's protection was a wedding gift from Aranessa Royce to Thjazi Fang.[16]
- Laura Bailey is finally getting to play a rogue for Campaign Four. She wanted Vex'ahlia of Vox Machina to be a rogue but decided to change her class to ranger, so that Liam O'Brien could play Vax'ildan as a rogue.[46]
- Thimble is the second fairy Laura has played with the first one being Bramble for a one-shot on Red Nose Day in 2023.
- As of October 2025, Thimble has the lowest Strength Score of any player character in Critical Role with a Strength Score of 3. The previous record holder for lowest strength was Shakäste in Campaign Two: The Mighty Nein. This is also the lowest individual score of any player character thus far.
- Thimble is the smallest of any player character in a main Critical Role campaign, standing at four inches tall and the first to be in the Tiny size category naturally thus far.[47]
- Thimble knows how to draw, even with tools that are too big for her.[48]
- Thimble's main skills before meeting Thjazi, according to her, were braiding hair and dealing with mice. In fact, one of the things she first liked about the orc was that he suggested that she could catch mice and braid their hair to keep everyone on their toes.[49]
- Thimble once saved Loza Blade's life in battle by stabbing a Cormoray sorcerer in the base of the skull; although that didn't kill him, the wound was grave enough to break his concentration, causing the drake he had summoned to disappear.[50]
- Whenever Thjazi was absent, Thimble would go to specific places across Dol-Makjar to keep things in order for him.[51]
- References to Peter Pan/Tinkerbell:
- When Laura was rolling death saving throws for Thimble, she asked the other players at the table to clap.[52] This is a reference to a very well known moment in J.M. Barrie's 1904 play Peter Pan when Tinkerbell is dying and Peter Pan asks the audience to clap if they believe in fairies, because the only thing keeping fairies alive is the belief they are real.
- Aabria Iyengar made a reference to Tinkerbell by calling Thimble "Tinkerhell" while Laura was rolling her dice.[53]
- Aranessa Royce gifted Thimble to Thjazi Fang similar to how Wendy gifts Peter a thimble.[54]
- Thimble is the constant companion of a dangerous trickster with a supernatural shadow (Thjazi/Peter Pan),[55] who antagonizes a dark-haired man with a metallic hand (Sir Julien/Captain Hook) and was involved with the daughter of a good family (Lady Aranessa/Wendy).
