The Rift is a 300-foot cliff marking the border between the Oderan Wilds to the northwest, and the Hellcatch Valley to the southeast.

Where the green lush jungles of the Oderan Wilds come to an end, there is an abrupt 300-foot drop to the dusty, cracked badlands of the Hellcatch Valley. On The Rift's northern edge lies the city of Gujjar-Serai, the Green City, the capital of the Bassur Republic, and multiple switchback roads climb up the cliff walls of The Rift to reach the city, and beyond it, the Wilds.[2]

The Hellcatch Valley was heavily impacted by The Calamity. At some point during its apocalyptic battles, the land in this region suddenly dropped about 300 feet, and what was once a lush valley became a pockmarked, dusty badlands, carved into dry ravines and large pillars, tall hills, mesas, and plateaus that were created either by ancient seismic activity or as portions of mountain ranges that eroded. The Rift is the cliff formed by this catastrophe where the shelf of the valley initially fell.[3]
