The Revelry is the association of pirates from Darktow Isle.

The Revelry is led by whomever bears the title of Plank King. The Plank King rules The Revelry's stronghold at Darktow Isle. As ruler of the Revelry, The Plank King allows the numerous pirating vessels of the faction the use of Darktow as a place of refuge to trade and sell their ill-gotten goods as well as for the repair and maintenance of their ships at no cost. However, the Plank King expects a percentage of all earnings from their activities as tribute each time they come to port regardless of the need for those services at the time.

Additionally, the Plank King holds the responsibility of maintaining a basic system of law and order amongst The Revelry's members. In the event of a major dispute between two or more Revelry members pertaining to the breaking of the law, their case is brought before the Plank King at which point the parties argue their cases and the Plank King makes judgement accordingly. If one party is found to be at fault, depending on the severity of the offense, the offending party may be sentenced to pay some form of restitution to the offended party or may even be put to death if the Plank King deems it suitable.

Membership

It appears The Revelry keeps extensive records of those crews aligned to them as noted when the Mighty Nein first docked at Darktow, and furthermore when they had an audience with the Plank King. Those who serve under a captain aligned with The Revelry are considered members bound by its laws of non-violence and theft against other members whilst within Darktow Isle; additionally, piracy committed against other members whilst on the seas is strictly forbidden. However only major disputes seem to ever reach the Plank King's ears, with minor incidents such as bar fights or assaults being overlooked or never even reported.

A number of the Revelry are not sailors and instead remain on the island to work as shipwrights, merchants, shore guards, or entertainers. Many of these people lived on Darktow before the Revelry took over or have been born since, and they gave allegiance to the Revelry in exchange for its protection.

The island presently known as Darktow Isle was formerly under the rule and jurisdiction of the Clovis Concord. The island was an important repair and stopping station from the Menagerie Coast for long-distance shipping. Approximately 40 years prior to the Mighty Nein's first arrival on Darktow (or about 795 PD), there was a dispute between the heads of the trading guilds with the Clovis Concord, the latter heavily and repeatedly overtaxing smaller shipping businesses in an attempt to close them out of the business so as to own all the means of shipping in the region.

In frustration and retaliation, the guilds banded together and ransacked the isle claiming it as their own. Those citizens of the isle at the time who chose not to oppose the group now known as The Revelry were absorbed into the faction whilst those who remained loyal to the Clovis Concord including many of the isle's then-leaders were killed. Shortly after this event, the Isle was fortified and quickly became the center of most pirate activity around the Menagerie Coast.

Approximately 25 years after the founding of The Revelry, there was a second revolt on the Isle aimed against the then-current Plank King due to his unpopularity. A large number of the Revelry mutinied and stormed the Throne Roost, killing the Plank King and those loyal to him. After the revolt, Wyatt Maranoss took up the title of Plank King.

Over time, the Cobalt Soul has developed a relationship with the Revelry, and the current Plank King is well aware of it.

After helping the Mighty Nein re-sealing Uk'otoa, Kingsley Tealeaf worked in Fjord's Stone's Throw Shipping Company and eventually got his own ship, the Mollymauk. A month later, Kingsley and the ship vanished and went to Darktow Isle to join The Revelry. A year or so later, the Mighty Nein received a letter that rescinds their banishment from the island and Kingsley became the new Plank King.

Campaign Two: The Mighty Nein

"A Pirate's Life for Me" (2x41)

The Plank King, Wyatt Maranoss, swiftly summoned Avantika and the Mighty Nein to the Throne Roost upon their arrival at Darktow. Initially welcoming them with mirth and offers of food and drink upon seating them, he quickly turned to interrogating Avantika's new crew members, asking their names and motives for turning to a life of piracy, with Linus recording their responses and making a series of sketches of the Mighty Nein.

Upon accepting Avantika's tribute and explaining to the Mighty Nein the rules and laws the Revelry abides by he abruptly dismissed them, ushering them to the exit of the Throne Roost. As he escorted them out he leaned close to Beauregard Lionett's ear, and in a whisper offered a reward of coin if Beau would report to him any activities Avantika took against The Revelry's interests. Beau wished to know how much, but the Plank King simply pulled away and returned to the interior of the Throne Roost.

"In Hot Water" (2x43)

After learning of The Mighty Nein's skirmish with Avantika, Wyatt placed them all on trial, where the truth of Avantika's treachery came to light. In retribution, he took the elven captain's life with a single snap of her neck condemning her name to be besmirched for what little time it was remembered. Though grateful for their actions, The Plank King was swift to pass judgment on the party as well, banishing them from Darktow Isle and threatening to sink them to the bottom of the sea should they ever return.

In Kingsley Tealeaf's epilogue, he stated that within a year he had become the new Plank King, suggesting he had deposed or disposed of Wyatt.
