The Glorious Ones were a motley crew of adventurers that came together working as mercenaries in Drobanagos, a fishing village in Athova-Rae, in the Shattered Teeth.

During the events of this semicanonical one-shot, set at some point before 795 PD,[1] the five members of this group were hired by Aldafud, the local elder, who wanted them to keep the Musetide Festival safe the same way they had helped him in a bar; it was during that time that they came up with their group name fairly quickly.

The Glorious Ones soon focused on a single task after a local woman, Ligeia, asked them help finding her sister. That led them to them exploring the forest of the island, discovering a strange talking apple that offered them help, and fighting some kobolds who tried to ambush them. However, when they reached the shore near the caves of the island, two women met them, and the story Ligeia had told them started to become more and more suspicious. The three mysterious women revealed their true fey identity as sirens, and ran away with Bobby (affected by their charm), to sacrifice his blood in a ritual intended to control a crab entity known as The Dreamer. The other Glorious Ones went to rescue the young halfling, and with some effort they killed the three sirens, as well as the crab (for which Sarge ate the sentient apple, obtaining immense strength for the task).

During the festival the adventurers discovered that the Dreamer was, in fact, a guardian for the people of Drobanagos, and the villagers were unaware that it had been killed and served as seafood. In order to avoid problems, the Glorious Ones decided to follow Scanlan and Dr. Dranzel's Spectacular Traveling Troupe, joining them on a ship heading to Tal'Dorei; Bobby seemed content enough with the idea, since his father, Kent Plucker, had to take care of him some more time anyway. Dranzel allowed them all to join, and even offered Ranthiel a position as promoter.

Later adventures[]

It is unknown how long did the Glorious Ones stay together and/or if they were part of Dranzel's troupe beyond Ran's job offer. However, by 808 PD Scanlan had separated from the rest of the group and started a new chapter of his adventuring story, becoming a member of Vox Machina. In 810 PD, when Scanlan and his new adventuring party reunited with Dranzel's troupe, the Glorious Ones weren't there anymore.[2]

  1. "Choose Their Adventure...Again!" (Sx81) takes place in a time in Scanlan's life when he's still inexpert and lacks confidence, and by the end of it he's trying to behave more like the charismatic Ranthiel Volthor. Since between 795 and 796 PD Scanlan had a messy affair with a member of the Darrington Estate staff that forced the bard and his troupe to leave, presumably the gnome's time with the Glorious Ones preceded this incident in Deastok.
