"The Coming Storm (LoVM)" (LVM3x06) is the sixth episode of The Legend of Vox Machina, Season Three. Welcome friends, to The Chateau Shorthalt! There's singing, dancing, and more chicken than you could ever eat. Not enough for you? How about juvenile dragons attacking Whitestone? Or perhaps Raishan betraying Vox Machina?
Plot summary[]
Scanlan welcomes them into his Château Shorthalt, ostentatiously decorated in his honor. He sings a song describing the wonders to be found therein, including a workshop for Percy, fighting pit for Grog, greenhouse for Keyleth, nightclub, hot tub, and bondage room.

Later that evening, Vax finds Percy relaxing in the hot spring. He throws off his towel and, naked, joins him in soaking, apologizing to Percy for being harsh on him and telling him it's okay, as long as he makes Vex happy. Percy explains he has a sister too, so he understands, and Vax leaves after warning him to check for traps. As soon as the door closes, Vex comes up from underwater, gasping out, "I thought he'd never leave."
In the main hall, Allura and Grog are testing Pike's new armor. Vax goes to visit Keyleth in her room and they have an awkward and brief casual conversation before he leaves. Vex and Percy are naked in front of the fire in another room, relaxing blissfully as he reminds her she has an open invitation to join him in Whitestone as a noble once this is all over.
In the morning, after a breakfast of chicken, they discuss their next steps--whether to pursue more Vestiges or return to Emon and confront Thordak. Scanlan is brooding over his inability to establish a connection with Kaylie, his daughter, and leaves the table abruptly. Pike goes to check on him and finds him in tears, and offers to Scry on her for Scanlan. She sees her in Nicodranas, not too far from where Scanlan is now, happily performing before a crowd before she sees what she mistakenly believes is Scanlan in the crowd. This upsets Scanlan even more, and Pike simply hugs him.

The group gathers outside where Allura transports them to Whitestone but Scanlan quietly stays behind. When they arrive in Whitestone, Vex immediately senses a dragon nearby and they see the city in flames, under attack by Thordak's spawn. They run toward the castle, but the group is torn in multiple directions, dividing their force. Vax tries to defend the Sun Tree in the air, while Grog, Vex, and Percy run to the castle, where Yennen is defending the walls. Pike and Kima help to rescue the civilians and Allura and Keyleth run to the burning Sun Tree, using water and air magic to extinguish the flames. The castle is afire and swarming with dragon spawn, and Grog uses his Titanstone Knuckles to enlarge himself. Gilmore directs them toward Cassandra, inside, battling more dragons alone before being joined by Percy. As the ceiling collapses in flames, they all narrowly escape and watch in horror. The dragons eventually abandon the attack and fly away.

Everyone joins in the rescue and recovery efforts, as Percy wonders aloud how the dragons found the cloaked and hidden city. Keyleth is convinced Raishan has betrayed them. Just then, a green-eyed child joins them, transforming into Raishan, telling them their judgment is clouded by anger. Keyleth immediately attacks, joined by Vax, who holds Raishan with a dagger at her throat before she teleports from his grasp. Raishan explains she couldn't stop the attack without letting Thordak know she was working with the party, but they are skeptical. Raishan asks them to consider who else had a motive to betray them, but as they begin to attack, Percy fires his gun in the air, telling them to stop. He realizes it was Anna Ripley who revealed Whitestone's location, but he cannot trust Raishan (who is urging them to go to Emon and kill Thordak), either. He terminates the deal with Raishan, who tells them she'll see them in Emon eventually, as enemies. With that, she disappears.
Later, Percy stands amid the ruins of his castle, joined by Vex. He has decided they should move against Ripley before going after the dragon, saying that is the only way to end Whitestone's suffering.

- The display of gold records on the wall of the mansion includes Beads of Love, Makin' My Way, When the Bald Man Cries, and Grog Poop Accompaniment. They are all songs from previous seasons and the first three have extended versions in the credits. One of the cabinets holds a Grammy Award, there is a picture of Scanlan with Kamaljiori, and another of Burt Reynolds hanging on the wall.
- When it is Keyleth's turn to jump into the pool, she turns into a goldfish, echoing a moment from the Campaign in a different context.[1]
- During a song about the mansion, Scanlan is seen holding a cannabis-like leaf that he refers to as "spice", perhaps the one he was offered in "A Deadly Bargain" (LVM3x01).
- Vax and Percy's bathtime talk is taken from "What Lies Beneath the Surface" (1x81) at 2:59:33.
