Baroness Tessandra Julous was a historical figure of Wildemount, and one of the last leaders of the Julous Dominion. She was married to Baron Inock Julous.[1]
The state that Tessandra and her husband ruled was in a period of growth that had caused tensions with the emerging Dwendalian Empire, but lacked the same militar unity when the conflict between the two nations ensued (after the Julous conspiracies led to an attempt to depose Manfried Dwendal by a council of religious figures in 544 PD).[2] The Marrow War that followed began as the Dominion grappled with the villages near Kamordah, driving their inhabitants into the Cyrios Mountains after they refused to pledge allegiance to them.[3]
The next sixteen months consisted of violent conflict that cost many their lives, and when in 546 PD the Empire succeeded in occupying Zadash Tessandra and Inock agreed to meet Manfried in hopes of negotiating peace. However the Dwendal monarch used the occasion to execute the couple, exposing their corpses in public and claiming that they had tried to kill him during the meeting. After losing their leaders, the Julous Dominion disbanded and the war ended.[3]

Trivia[]
- Her full name has an unclear etymology. Hypothetically, the first part, "Tess-", could be a diminutive of Theresa, which is said to come from the Greek therízō (harvest/reap) or theros (summer); it could also come from the Old Slavic teš (comfort/console). The suffix "-andra" comes from the Ancient Greek anḗr, meaning "man".
- It is not specified if Tessandra was the ruling head of the Julous Empire, if she actively shared responsibility with Inock, or if she was the one born into the Julous family.
