A tanglefoot bag is a small sack filled with tar, resin, and other sticky substances.[2]

Description[]

A tanglefoot bag can be thrown to a point up to 30 feet away, at which point it bursts on impact and covers the ground in a 10-foot radius with sticky goo. For one minute, that area is difficult terrain. Any creature that was in the area of the goo when the bag was thrown must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be restrained by the goo. A restrained creature can use its action to make a Strength check, freeing itself on a success.[3]

History[]

Campaign Two: The Mighty Nein[]

Nott purchased the materials to make a tanglefoot bag at Natural Remedies in Trostenwald while the Mighty Nein were first traveling towards the Menagerie Coast.[4] Later, while battling The Laughing Hand within the King's Cage, she attempted to entangle him with the bag, but he succeeded in breaking free from the bag's goo.[5]

Campaign Three: Bells Hells[]

In preparation for the heist of the Twilight Mirror Museum, The Verdict purchased three tanglefoot bags, and Orym of Bells Hells bought one.[6]
