Q&A[]

  • For everybody, what has been your favorite story arc so far?
  • For everyone, if your characters had to be reincarnated with your memories but in a different body, what would it be if you could choose it?
  • For Ashley & Liam, do you have any tips for a first time New-Yorker?
    • Walking around town as much as you can, obviously go to Central Park. Ashley recommends going to central Park when it's dark because there's a lot of fireflies. Taliesin recommends a mermaid festival on Coney Island. There's summer movies festivals. You can see most shows on Broadway for free by sneaking in or being a student. Ashley recommends Di Fara Pizza in Brooklyn.
  • If you have to do a trial by combat and only have to pick one other ally (guest characters including), who would you summon and why?
    • Sam picks Tova. Keyleth would probably go with Grog because they're both unkilable pretty much. Vax would go with Delilah Briarwood. Pike would be with her buddies Grog.
  • If you could replace your character with any NPC, which one would it be?
  • For anybody, is there a relation on how you approach playing in Critical Role as oppose to any other stage roles you did?
    • Liam says yes, it's been ten years since he hasn't done any stage roles and got the itch to get back on stage, but since Critical Role started, it scratches that itch. And they're living in this role for five years now.
    • Marisha says it's the longest form of improv basically.
    • Laura says the preparation can be very similar. Having loose ideas of your characters before you start playing a lot, it's the same process as if your starting to play in a theater.
  • For Liam & Sam, can we expect to have another episode of All Work No Play within the next three years?
    • A live episode is already planned in a couple of weeks.
  • With everything that has been going on in the story right now, what your characters are grateful for?
    • Grog is grateful for ale, his buddy Pike, and his friends. Keyleth is grateful for being taught how to love by a certain rogue. Percy is grateful for family right now. Pike is grateful for her found family, her friends, and being able to see the Everlight in person unlocked something new for her. Scanlan is greteful to be accepted back in the group. Liam is grateful for his family, his twin sister. Vex is grateful for Percy and Whitestone, having a place she can call home, for Vax being back and the time they have.
  • Will you consider to do guest players playlists?
  • If the Vox Machina characters ascend to godhood, what would they be the gods of?
    • Grog would the god of carnal pleasure. Keyleth would the goddess of weather. Percy would the god of machinery and order. Pike would be the goddess of love and kindness. Scanlan would be the god of aerated wine. Vax would be the god of death. Vex would be the goddess of commerce. Matt would be the god of naps and free time.
  • Do you have any plans to do a live show on the west coast?
    • They would like to do more live shows, but they're a big undertaking and logistics is always complicated. They will let everyone if they managed to put one together in the future.
  • For anyone, what is your favorite 16-bit J-RPG?
  • How Vox Machina would react if they were planeshifted in a world from another show, like Valkana from Titansgrave?
    • They would be very impressed by the electricity.
    • Marisha wants to jump in Shield of Tomorrow and do a Star Trek crossover. Scanlan would spend a lot of time in the holodeck.
    • Liam would want to see Vox Machina in a Cyberpunk setting.
  • For Matt, have you considered something above the gods like the Lady of Pain or other things from the cosmology?
    • Matt takes a lot of inspiration from the old Vecna stories but has to be aware to not tap too much into those licensed D&D lore especially now that Critical Role have a setting book for Exandria.
  • Do you miss anything of the time when Critical Role was still just a small show?
    • They can't really go through the fanarts as much anymore, they only do in the after show. Taliesin misses the time where the correspondance was more managable.
  • What surprised you about your characters developpment? For Matt, what surprised about the world developpment?
    • Matt is still surprised that people want to play there. Laura is surprised that Vex is willing to take responsability for more than just her brother and herself. Liam never thought Vax would get dark as he has and be so serious about outside responsabilities. Sam is surprised that Taryon Darrington lasted more than two episodes. Ashley didn't expected Pike to have wings. Taliesin expected Percy to turn into an horrible mess, but it surprisingly did not happen. Marisha was surprised by Keyleth jumping oof of a cliff to her death. Travis didn't expected Grog to become the smartest person in the group.
  • For Matt, what was your favorite scenario you threw at the group?
    • Time scenarios. When they have that much time to accomplish something.
  • For Matt, where in the timeline the next campaign will be?
    • Roughly about twenty or so years beyond the end of this campaign. It's going to be on another continent, and depending on which PCs and NPCs survive this final arc, they will all existing somewhere in the world.
  • For the couples, what happens during the ride home after a game and do you both deal when something bad happened in the game?
    • For Marisha & Matt and Travis & Laura, the calmdown run to a Taco Bell is usually the routine after an intense session.
