"Talks Machina #145: 'Dark Waters'" (TMx145) is the one-hundred forty-fifth episode of Talks Machina. Travis Willingham and Ashley Johnson discuss "Dark Waters" (2x98) with host Brian Wayne Foster.
Synopsis[]
- Both: What is it like to RP a dream sequence with Matt?
- Travis: Fjord died at the end of the episode. How does it feel waiting a week to know your fate?
- Ashley: Yasha has a continuous lack of faith in herself? How has the Stormlord's belief in her and her regenerated wings changed her view of herself?
- Travis
- Q: Knowing there was still unfinished business with Uk'otoa, did Fjord have any trepidation about being on the sea or did Matt blindside you?
- A: "No, I'm a fucking moron"
- Travis
- Q: Most impactful moment in fight?
- A: Escalation from being dead to being dragged by a Deep scion off the deck.
- Ashley:
- Both
- Q: Yasha falling but then flying back up once she embraced her god paralleled beautifully with Fjord teleporting up to the crow's nest to run away from his old god, only to fall back down. How does it feel when your improvised RP sessions create poetry?
- A: Matt is a wonderful storyteller
- Ashley
- Q: Yasha is continuing to play her harp more as a method of self-care. Can you share a little bit about how it feels for her to have this gentle and safe outlet for some of her pain and emotion?
- A: Music plays a huge part in both Ashley's and Yasha's lives, creating moments for self-care and therapy. Ashley also thought that it would be a nice narrative thread to multiclass as a bard but remembered that Yasha has a low charisma.
- Travis: Fjord's reaction to the deep scion wielding the Sword of Fathoms?
- Ashley: Yasha, so far this campaign, was preyed upon by Trent Ikithon, taken by Obann and hit on by Lord Sharpe. How does she feel?
- Travis: Fjord's view of Caleb after some time past since?
- Ashley: Yasha's sense of humor has started coming out. Is this new light-hearted side a result of her increased comfort level with the people around her or a result of her increased comfort with who she is?
- Travis
- Q: Fjord mentioned to Caleb that he wants to be a good man? What is his definition of a "good man"?
- A: For Fjord Vandran has a perfect personality. He encapsulate all the basic male ideals: tough, loves but not overly emotional, conveys a strong sense of leadership, knows what he wants, focused, driven, seems stalwart, and dependable.
