Wisdom and Lichdom[]

(2013-02-10)

  • Ashley's Vine of the game shows Pike's abilities, which are D&D 4th edition Cleric abilities (Beacon of Hope, Healing Word...), which means that they were still playing with D&D 4th edition. On the other hand, Marisha implied (1, 2) that she landed on Druid for a couple of reasons: 1/It was one of the few classes available; 2/She wanted to experience Druids in Pathfinder because she didn't like Druids in D&D 4th edition (which she had already played), but was still attracted to the idea of the class. This raises the question of the appearance of Keyleth: did Marisha try to play 4th edition Druids once more this session? or did Keyleth appear on the next session when they switched to Pathfinder? The Chest[]

(2013-06-09)

  • Since Matt mentions Sam/Scanlan acting as Burt Reynold at Ayacon 2013 in August 2013 (48:25 through 48:38), the idea of disguising as Burt Reynold must have happened during a session played before August 2013. The Vine "Victory", shot on June 9th 2013 by Liam, features Sam with a brown sleeved t-shirt. A picture showed in The World of Critical Role (p.13) was taken as Sam wore the same t-shirt and had a finger over his upper lip. The depiction of the event also in The World of Critical Role corroborates the matching events of this session (passing a guard in order to infiltrate a tower). This leads to believe that the picture was shot during this session, as Scanlan was disguising as Burt Reynolds.
    • Eventually, Vox Machina Origins II #3, which relates also these events, would further support it. Dharmatree (talk) 12:31, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
      • Just a note to applaud the detective work this took to piece together the public pieces. Very helpful! LynnE216 (talk) 14:40, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

A Prisoner and a Nightmare[]

(2013-07-26)

  • In "The Story of Vox Machina" (Sx06) it is indicated that it was around this time that "[...] rumors of missing children begin to reach the party's ears" in Westruun. However, Matt at AYACON 2013 (Day 2) mentioned how the group infiltrated this cult after hearing about missing prostitutes from different places. It's highly probable that this part was retconned (since it was never mentioned again after) and replaced by the rumors of missing children to foreshadow the Dread Emperor subplot.
    • In Vox Machina Origins Series II #4 and #5 the existence of the cult was more simply and directly mentioned by Eskil Ryndarien and later confirmed by Percy when the group arrived at Jorenn Village. Dharmatree (talk) 10:33, 8 November 2022 (UTC)

The Fall of the House of Fince[]

(2014-06-14)

  • In episode 91[1], both Liam and Matt could be mixing Sir Gregory Fince's basement with General Krieg's house. It seems that in both places Vox Machina encountered devils/demons (more specifically a succubus Gregory Fince's house and an imp at General Krieg's house). Refer to tweets, pictures and videos in the pre-stream home game for more info. Dharmatree (talk) 13:42, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
I suspect you're right, since it had all happened about three years ago at that point. Gods know I can't remember what happened two week ago in my own game... LynnE216 (talk) 14:35, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
In episode 92[2], Liam mixed again Sir Gregory's house with General Krieg's house, saying that the imp was at Krieg's house. Matt corrects him but can't remember the name of Fince. So it seems that Vox Machina has only encountered devils/demons (imp, succubus and more devils/demons) only at Fince's house. Refer to tweets, pictures and videos in the pre-stream home game for more info. Dharmatree (talk) 12:29, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
In that scene in 1x91, Liam and Matt talk about fighting a succubus and an entity that looks like a spined devil, but I wonder if they're mixing up more than just the location in that moment. "The Story of Vox Machina" says they found "demons" in Fince's basement, with original art of a succubus and some other creature (see "The Story of Vox Machina" (Sx06) at 7:20). Granted, a succubus isn't quite a demon, but that other creature doesn't look like the (Small, winged) spined devil from the Monster Manual. It looks much more like a hezrou, which would be more level-appropriate. –Durandal's Fate (talk) 17:24, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
  • The Drider the group encountered might have been a mini that Matt used to represent the succubus. Dharmatree (talk) 12:17, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
It'd be an odd choice. Driders are Large creatures, while succubi are only Medium-sized. Looks like they fought a drider and a spider in a place with webs in this tweet. –Durandal's Fate (talk) 17:24, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

The Soul Jars[]

(2014-11-09)

Other moments / The Soul Jars[]

(2014-11-09)

  • During their Q&A after "K'Varn Revealed" (1x10), Sam said his favorite moment was when freed Keyleth from prison after convincing the guards that she had pubic lice. Marisha questioned if it was the same moment when she played along by foaming at the mouth and acting insane. However, the only publicly shared moment of Keyleth foaming was in a Vine published by Liam on the 9th of November 2014, a session Sam missed. See the Vine at 2:48 through 2:55. - Dharmatree (talk) 13:13, 30 October 2022 (UTC)

Other moments[]

  • Knowing exactly when Keyleth's white saber-toothed tiger animal form, "Minxie", appeared is difficult to place. In Pathfinder, tigers are considered Large animals and the Druid's Wild Shape at level 6 allows them to transform into Large animals. The group reached 6th level on the 27th of September 2013 ("There Will Be Brawl") (or at least some of them did). So, Keyleth's transformation into Minxie must have happened after this date.
See also Marisha's quote from December 19th 2014 ("GoldenEyes"; Liam O'Brien (@voiceofobrien) on Twitter: "“Wait! I’ve been wanting to do this for a year! I transform into a kitten!” - @Marisha_Ray" (2014-12-19).) and the vines from the very same date in which see appears to have a clawed scarf.

Other moments: Vox Machina's six months hiatus[]

The three special episodes that include a guest (Vin Diesel, Joe Manganiello and John Bradley) are said (or are likely) to have happened during Vox Machina's six months hiatus. Obviously shot after the pre-stream home games, during the production of Campaign One, they have no main narrative, nor specific order (production-wise or level-wise), binding them together.
