Surtr is a god worshiped by fire giants.
History[]
Some of his followers resided in the City of Brass, in the Elemental Plane of Fire, where there was an impressive temple dedicated to him called the Smoking Hammer Shrine.[5] It was built by molding together hundreds of heavy pieces of dark iron, mostly metal hammers, and it was adorned with a big archway.[6]
When Vox Machina traveled to the City of Brass looking for the Plate of the Dawnmartyr, they used the shrine to Surtr as a reference point[7] to locate the home of Juuraiel, the giantess who had the Vestige of Divergence the adventurers wanted.[8][9]

Trivia[]
- His name (also spelled Surtur in modern Icelandic and in popular media, including 5th Edition) means "black" or "swarthy" in Old Norse. In Norse mythology Surtr was the lord of Muspelheim, and had a key role destroying the world during Ragnarök.
- Although many giants in the City of Brass (where Surtr has a place of worship) have been enslaved after an uprising, it is unknown if the deity is aware of it, or if he cares at all (since other fire giants benefited from those events).[10][11]
- Outside of Critical Role canon this giant god's realm is supposed to be in Ysgard.
