The Stormpoint Mountains are the southernmost portion of the Stormcrest Mountain Range. They extend into the Rifenmist Peninsula[1] and end in the Hallowroot Hills.[3]

Description[]

The Stormpoint Mountains are a narrow series of steep, rocky peaks that continue the Stormcrest range hundreds of miles south into the Rifenmist Jungle. They are covered in plant life and experience frequent rain and fog.[1] The near-constant rain feeds thousands of waterfalls in the spring, but the region's natural beauty attracts only the most intrepid of the Mornset Countryside's Free Folk and pilgrims who worship the Wildmother, because the range is also hazardous.[4]

Where the western edges of the mountain range meet the Mornset Countryside, there are some swamps and shadowed forests.[5]

History[]

During the Calamity, there was a safe place at the southern end of the range called Snowgrave Pass. The foothills of the southern reaches of the Stormpoint Mountains are the Hallowroot Hills, which during the Calamity had a settlement called Torm's Hill,[6] several days' travel[7] southeast from Snowgrave Pass. The peak associated with Snowgrave Pass could be seen from Torm's Hill.[8]

While the Stormpoints are highly dangerous to traverse, by 812 PD they had become a popular area for adventurers, as Raishan's lair was rumored to be located in the region. The rumors were true: the mid-level adventure hook The Deceiver's Legacy revolves around her lair, which was guarded by venomous plant life, dominated beasts, and illusions.[1]

In the Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn, set in 836 PD, the high-level adventure hook Allies of the Storm involves a clan of cyclopes led by stormcallers, residing in the Stormpoint Mountains. Freedom fighters opposed to the Iron Authority wish to recruit the cyclops clan for aid, but the stormcallers turn out to have been possessed by demons who use the stormcallers' powers to tyrannically dominate the clan.[4]
