Soma was a mercenary serving on board The Stormcap. His job was to guard the crate which proved to contain Nolzur's Marvelous Pigments.
As an NPC, Soma was played by Matthew Mercer.

Soma was a tall man in half-plate armor that was heavily dented by the battle's end. He had dark skin and black hair tied up in a bun.[1]
Personality[]
He had a rather grim look about him and took his job protecting the cargo on board The Stormcap very seriously. He felt cheated when he learned the true contents of the cargo.[2]

Soma was hired to safely deliver the wooden shoebox size box without peeking into it. Upon his return Soma was to receive a payment of 150 gold.
"A Pirate's Life for Me" (2x41)[]
When the Mighty Nein boarded The Stormcap, Fjord and Beau went below to search. They were attacked by Soma, who Beau stunned, Yasha grappled, and Fjord told him to surrender, which he did. They recovered the package he was guarding: a beautiful wooden box. Soma was to have gotten 150 on successful delivery, so Fjord gave him 70, and Caduceus healed him.
