Skyhaal is a young goliath woman and one of the leaders of the Rivermaw Herd along with her father, Zanror, the last Thunderlord of the Herd of Storms.[3]
While pregnant with Skyhaal in 811 PD, her mother Worra was imprisoned by her father-in-law Kevdak, only to be later freed thanks to Vox Machina,[4] joining the fight against Umbrasyl the Hope Devourer, stepping aside only to protect her child, who would be born later that same year.
The young half-giant grew up in a period in which her father and Ivon the Ironwilled (the leader of the previously independent Rivermaw Tribe) shared a tenuous alliance for the leadership of the new Rivermaw Herd,[5] but at some point in or before 836 PD Skyhaal took the position previously held by Ivon.[3]

- It is possible that the fact that Skyhaal shares leadership of the Rivermaw Herd with her father symbolizes that Zanror still represents the members of the old Herd of Storms, while his daughter represents the Rivermaw, having grown up in that community.
- Skyhaal and Vesper Elaina de Rolo are the only two known cases where their respective mothers went on adventures and engaged in dangerous battles while pregnant with them.
