Shoresight Isle is an island in the Ozmit Sea.

The island itself is craggy and not very big, with a hamlet consisting of some cottages, shops, the Honeycomb Inn, and a magnificent and well-maintained lighthouse.[1] It is just off the coast of Shorecomb and can be seen from land, which is the reason why it is called like that.

History[]

At some point between 736 and 743 PD Timpani Guff visited Shoresight Isle, during a time in which he was still "in school". He left for the last time fourteen years later, and four or five decades after that the Slayer's Take sent members to the island to hunt something "below" it.[2]

At some point between 836 and 843 PD a local mage, Duderonomous, noticed that the local population (moody outcasts for the most part) were visiting the cliffs and returning in an odd good mood, so, suspecting ghostly activity, he sent a seagull to tell Timpani, who arrived shortly after with his team, the Re-Slayer's Take. By then many of the villagers were psychically influenced by whatever was haunting their hamlet, and they were constantly repeating a vague comment about the stormy weather ("Heck of a storm we're having"). When the adventurers visited the local inn and became aware of ghostly tentacles controlling the people, the latter attacked, but the former, using non-lethal violence, precise attacks against the ghosts themselves, and persuasion to remind people of their lives and personalities, managed to stop the attack and free the inhabitants of Shoresight Isle.[3] After the adventurers discovered that the ghost of an aboleth was causing all this they freed Duderonomous himself from its influence, and defeated it with his help after using its own bones as bait. After that, Timpani closed a portal in a sea cave the ghost had been using, although in the process a mysterious force attacked him, leaving him sick and confused. The following day a group of adventurers arrived to the island asking for the Re-Slayers, and so was Heldwell of the Slayer's Take. They, however, were received by Duderonomous, who after feeling their hostility convinced them to leave, threatening them by summoning stormy weather.[4]

Trivia[]

  • It might be part of the Hespet Archipelago, given the name similarities with Glintshore, but it isn't confirmed.
  • Shoresight Isle is eroded by wind and waves and has lost ground over a century, so that an oak tree that was once on dry land now sits on the edge of a cliff.[5]
