These grandchildren of Westruunian noble Sevil Howthess were haunted by their ancestor, who had renovated a druidic ritual site to serve as his tomb.

History[]

The Shadebarrow was an ancient ritual site for the Dawn Circle, a group of hierophant druids, until the rule of Drassig, when some considerable cruelty resulted in the site becoming the druids' tomb. After the Drassigs fell, the site passed to Westruun's trade unions, who eventually sold it to the eccentric Sevil Howthess, who renovated it into his own tomb.[1][2] Few of his grandchildren were alive by 812 PD, and in the adventure hook Catacombs of the Lost they deny any involvement with the then-largely forgotten tomb of their grandfather. By then, they had moved to an obscure corner of Tal'Dorei (this adventure hook suggests Stilben or the Shalesteps as examples), where they were haunted by the restless ghost of their grandfather, who could not let his descendants live in peace. To others, they posed as a simple family of commoners.[3]
