Sean Finnerty is a veteran of the recent war in Newfaire and a younger soldier. He is played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.
Description[]
Sean is currently in his mid 20s. His easily replaced clothing is clean, although the more expensive items (such as his suspenders and shoes) show more wear. Generally, he appears healthy and fit, but also clearly has no one to go home to.[2]
Biography[]
Background[]
Sean's mother is Margaret Mary Finnerty ("Peggy"), now an inmate at the Grayslate Sanitorium. Beatrix Monroe, an employee, visits her there regularly and brings Sean letters from her. Sean was Peggy's youngest son.[3] His older brothers, Anthony and Jimmy, were closer in age. Anthony was a war hero even before the Last Great War, having taken a fort in a prior colonial conflict. Anthony was engaged to a woman beyond his station, Jane Windermere, an aristocrat, whose main suitor was another aristocrat named Nicholas Clyburn, whose father, General William Clyburn, transferred Anthony to another platoon, all of whom lost their lives in a battle where the artillery never showed up. Jimmy accused his commanding officer, Douglas Vanderfeld, of a conspiracy, before being court-martialed for espionage and executed. With both brothers dead, Sean returned to find his mother committed to Grayslate Sanatorium and his house seized.[4]
Sean voluntarily and illegally enlisted in the war at a very young age (16 or 17).[5] Both of his brothers were killed in the war.[6]
While Sean was deep behind enemy lines with the Ghost Platoon, Dr. Nero said they had received intelligence about a weapon holding Bleed that they needed to destroy. Sean was told they were otherworldly horrors, but they appeared to be several young children that Sean massacred under orders. When he looked up, he saw a face looking at him through a mirror.[7]

Quotations[]
I miss you so. Your Auntie Beatrix tells me that you're still doing what you do best: Killing those who are different from you simply because you're told to. Following orders to eradicate people with families and loved ones, then letting those same people you choose to obey kill your brothers. And now I am here in this wretched place because of you, Sean, because you didn't look out for our family. You let us down, and I cannot forgive you for that.
With all my love, Mom
