Ruidian glass, also known as sub glass, is a valued and commonly used material on Ruidus. It is formed of the remnants of Predathos' body when it was locked within the red moon, creating the prison that now holds the God Eater.[4]
The Weave Mind and Ludinus Da'leth were attempting to break through this glass prison and free Predathos. Ludinus supplied Aeorian technology, in particular that related to the Factorum Malleus or Creator Hammer, which had the ability to undo divine magic and therefore was able to penetrate the glass.[5]
Description[]
This glass is sharp and similar to obsidian, although with a different color; the natural formations are teal.[6]
The material is psychically resonant, meaning that it reacts to the presence of psychic power (such as Ruidusborn), glowing and gaining additional properties if it is near such sources of energy.[7] Although it is fairly strong and can be used both in construction and the crafting of weapons, tools and artistic pieces, it also has a certain fragility, and after a particularly strong impact (a critical hit) there is the possibility of it shattering.[8]
The glass is much stronger while in place within Ruidus, and presumably connected to the main body of Predathos. Once it has been removed from the primary glass structure, it becomes more brittle and workable.[9]
Weapon properties[]
Weapons crafted from the glass have the following properties:
- Critically hits on 18-20, with 1-6 out of d20 chance of shattering immediately thereafter[10]
- When within 60 feet[11] of someone with natural psychic abilities, the weapon glows faintly and has a bonus to hit. After a successful hit, the target has disadvantage on some saving throws.[12]
Locations[]
The glass is found in the different underground levels of Ruidus. The more deeply-mined glass is stronger and sometimes has unique properties.[13]
According to a theoretical representation of Ruidus found in the Colloquium of Candescense, the core of the red moon is made of the teal glass with multiple pillars and branches piercing up out of it, constituting 30 to 40 percent of Ruidus's total mass.[14] The Exaltants and the Weave Mind have been working together to map the glass veins and locate the core.[15]
Outside of Ruidus and its people, the only known owners of this substance are Bells Hells and Pumat Sol in Exandria,[16] and Morrigan in the Feywild.[17]
Trivia[]
- There are locals in Kreviris, such as those working in the Jagged Edge, focused on working with this type of glass.
