A Ring of the Ram can create a spectral ram's head that pushes and damages an enemy or breaks an object.
Description[]
This ring has a maximum of three charges, and the wearer can use an action to expend up to three charges to make a ranged spell attack against a creature they can see within 60 feet.[1] Activating the ring creates a burst of divine-white energy that coalesces into a large, circular portal from which a giant, ghostly ram's head springs toward the target.[2] For each charge used, an attack that hits deals a certain amount of force damage, and pushes the target 5 feet away from the wearer.[1]
Alternately, the charges can be expended to attempt to break an object the wearer can see within 60 feet. The ring makes a Strength check with a +5 bonus for each charge expended.[1]
History[]
Campaign One: Vox Machina[]

Taryon Darrington had one of these rings, and he used it against a marid—a water genie—who was part of a crew of attacking pirates that was boarding the ship that Vox Machina was taking to Vesrah. The ring scored a critical hit and slew the marid as the spectral ram's head ejected the creature into the sea. Taryon was surprised by the ring's power.[3]
Tary's subsequent uses of the ring were not successful:
- After arriving at Vesrah, Keyleth was given a task that placed all of Vox Machina in the path of a kraken, which got a tentacle around Taryon. Taryon attempted to use the ring on that tentacle, but because he was restrained, he couldn't quite score a hit.[4]
- Later, Tary was similarly unsuccessful trying to push Utugash out of the pit fiend's own Wall of Fire.[5]
- Finally, Tary tried to use the ring on Symphior, the Withered Planetar, but the creature was too hard to hit.[6]
Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep[]
One of the ancient baubles the Allegiance of Allsight expedition found in the underwater ruins of Cael Morrow was a Ring of the Ram. Xot, the research technician in whose collection the ring can be found, can be persuaded to part with it.[7]
