We have varying degrees of rings of protection. These rings are designed to protect the individual who wears. We have one with a basic enchantment and one with one step higher above that.

A ring of protection (sometimes capitalized Ring of Protection) is an enchanted ring that provides magical protection to the wearer.[24] They come in varying levels of enchantment.[25]

Mechanics[]

Rings of protection require attunement, and provide the wearer with a bonus to their armor class and saving throws. In Exandria, rings of protection can have different levels of enchantment (+1 or +2 to AC and saving throws); in the official rules, however, they only have one level of enchantment (+1).[26][2]

History[]

In Tal'Dorei, rings of protection are worn by cyclops stormcallers.[6]

Campaign One: Vox Machina[]

Rings of protection of two levels of enchantment were available for sale at Gilmore's Glorious Goods in Emon. When Vox Machina came by on a shopping trip, party members Pike Trickfoot and Keyleth expressed interest in one of the rings with a +2 enchantment, and the party purchased it.[27] Vox Machina would later spend some time divvying up their recently purchased magic items, including the ring of protection, and Vex'ahlia would keep it.[28]

When the party was in the Feywild, Keyleth mentioned she had a +2 ring of protection.[29]

An elderly woman who assisted the Broker in a mission to capture Lillith Daturai wore a ring of protection. After she was killed, Vox Machina looted it off her body.[30] It was likely this particular ring that Vox Machina presented to the fire giant Whaska in the City of Brass as payment for information, which the giant rejected.[31]

Slayer's Take member Kashaw Vesh held a ring of protection.[32]

Campaign Two: The Mighty Nein[]

Fjord asked shopkeeper Pumat Sol if he had any "articles of protection", such as a ring, cloak, or bracelet.[33] Later, while adventuring beneath Bazzoxan, the Mighty Nein discovered a magical ring that Caleb Widogast magically identified as a ring of protection. The ring was promptly given to Yasha Nydoorin.[34] Ava Endlewood had a ring of protection for sale at the Plexus Post in Uthodurn, while the Mighty Nein were there shopping for mithral and residuum.

Campaign Three: Bells Hells[]

When Laudna was resurrected in Whitestone, Vex'ahlia, feeling somewhat responsible for Laudna's misfortunes, gave her ring of protection to Laudna.[35] It looked like a simple silver or platinum band with a small groove running around it holding extremely intricate, tiny runes.[36] Although Vex'ahlia's ring in the first campaign was +2, the one Laudna received was +1.[37]

In Ruidus, Bells Hells obtained three rings from Willmaster Edmuda and her soldiers, one of them being a ring of protection that Orym kept.[38] He later used the Quintessence Array to absorb the ring, gaining two additional maximum hit points.[39]
