The Ring of Remembrance is a golden ring[1] and a Relic of the Red Solstice created by the Arch Heart.

Description[]

The ring is beautiful,[2] and forms an invisible web-like weave around the wearer.[3]

Awakened[]

The properties of the ring in its dormant and awakened state are unknown, since it was created as Exalted.[4]

Exalted[]

The ring grants +2 to armor class, spell attack bonus, and spell save DC. It also gives advantage on Constitution saving throws to maintain concentration. In addition, the wearer can while maintaining concentration activate the ring to attempt to cast Meteor Swarm by rolling above their current hit points on a d20. If the roll is below or equal to current hit points, the caster takes 20d6 fire and 20d6 bludgeoning damage.[5]

History[]

The ring was created by the Arch Heart in his domain from the strand of his hair he cast into the world just before departing it after the fall of Aeor.[6] The hair was caught in the mouth of Selena Erenves, now become a star whispering to herself over and over, "I wish the knowledge... the weapon...I want everyone to see it," seemingly trapped in the moment of her death. The god explained that she had been someone dear to him, but "a series of events led to the planning of a last resort." He saw now he didn't need it anymore and directed Imogen to take the hair caught in Selena's mouth. As she did, it wrapped itself around her finger, spooling out of the star as it dissipated. With a sigh of relief, the star exploded into light and magic, and the hair winding around Imogen Temult's finger solidified into a ring.[7]

Trivia[]

  • Abubakar Salim, as the Arch Heart and the Dungeon Master, had the option of bestowing either a Relic of the Red Solstice or a cursed mark which could only be removed when the Arch Heart felt enough penance had occurred. He also created both items.[4]
    • The curse would have caused an arcane mark to appear over the left eye of the cursed person, turning it into a swirl of orange and purple; mechanically, it would give them disadvantage on Charisma checks and saving throws, as well as vulnerability to force damage.[4]

THE ARCH HEART: I mean, they're our children after all. Got to go out there, do their own thing. It's what we did.
THE DAWNFATHER: Not to see them. Not to stand by their side. Not to be there day after day.
THE ARCH HEART: Yeah. Yeah. But that's what makes it so great. It makes those moments really last. Besides, we'll always be there in some way, shape, or form, the same way that they will always be with us. Like a scar. With that, I'm going to take a strand of my hair, twirl it in my finger, and throw it. We'll always be here.
Matt and Abubakar confirmed in CR Cooldown C3 E107 on Beacon (subscription required) (Transcript) that the ring was formed from this hair.
