The Ring of Red Fury is a magical silver band inlaid with ruidium, a mineral connected to the power of Alyxian, the Apotheon.
Description[]
The ring's band is silver with a ruidium inlay.[3] The wearer can breathe water and swim through any liquid at the same rate as walking.[1]
Due to the presence of ruidium, the wearer can enter a ruidium rage, granting them the following benefits: advantage on Strength checks and saving throws, the ability to add their proficiency bonus to the damage of an attack, immunity to the paralyzed and restrained conditions, and the ability to ignore the penalty imposed by difficult terrain. Prolonged usage of the ring causes the presentation of ruidium exposure symptoms. If Alyxian becomes free of his bondage in the Netherdeep, all ruidium ceases to exist and the ring becomes a Ring of Free Action.[2][4]
History[]
During the 830s PD, academics of the Allegiance of Allsight discovered ruidium near a planar rift in the ruins of Cael Morrow beneath Ank'Harel.[5] Shortly after the initial discovery of the mineral, a spy from the Consortium of the Vermilion Dream, a small religious group that venerates Ruidus, infiltrated the Allegiance's archeological basecamp in Cael Marrow and successfully stole a sample of the mineral.[6] Whether the Allegiance or the Consortium is responsible for crafting the ring is unknown.
The first known owner of the ring is Watcher Lymmle Wist of the Sentinels of Memory in Ank'Harel, who infiltrated the Allegiance as a spy for the Sentinels.[3] The Consortium gave the ring to Lymmle for her role in the conflict of the Consortium and the Sentinels with the Allegiance.[3][7] Logs of expeditions led by Lymmle to Cael Morrow indicate a ring in the party's inventory.[8] Lymmle planted the ring on Prolix Yusaf, a member of the Allegiance, as part of a further plan of espionage.[3] The Allegiance soon discovered Lymmle's loyalty to the Sentinels with the aid of an adventuring party who are companions of Prolix. Ultimately, Prolix gave the ring to the adventuring party with the condition that they provide any further information regarding its properties.[9]
