The Revolutionary Council is the main ruling body of Dol-Makjar, acting as its official government.[5]
History[]
Some time after the end of the Shapers' War,[6] the Revolutionary Council was formed in Dol-Makjar, also known as "the seat of the revolution".[7]
Around twelve years prior to the events of Campaign Four, many of the common people rebelled against the growing authority and power of the noble Sundered Houses of the city in a conflict named the Falconer's Rebellion. There was a belief among the rebels that the Revolutionary Council would take their side in the revolt, but they failed to do so, apparently at that time having already come under increasing influence from the Sundered Houses.[8]
Since the defeat of the Falconer's Rebellion, the Revolutionary Council has increasingly ceded their authority to the Chamber of Lords-Advisory of the Sundered Houses. House Royce has been the only voice attempting to slow this shift of power, which has resulted in an increasing crackdown on the use of magic by the populace.[9]
The execution of Thjazi Fang was the first one in the history of the city of Dol-Makjar to have been carried out exclusively under the sole authority of the Chamber of the Lords-Advisory of the Sundered Houses, acting openly and independently of the Council.[10]
The day after Thjazi Fang's execution, Sir Harondus Einfasen, a member of the Chamber of the Lords-Advisory, met Edrian Fazir, captain of the Arcane Marshals, and offered to reinforce the Arcane Marshals by reassigning public resources to that same office of the Revolutionary Guard by shutting down others. Sir Harondus Einfasen would also be acting as its "security overseer". The shutted down offices would then be privately held.[11]
Organization[]
Chamber of Lords-Advisory[]
The Chamber of Lords-Advisory advises the Revolutionary Council.[12] It includes representatives of the Sundered Houses.[13]
Revolutionary Guard[]
The Revolutionary Guard is the Revolutionary Council's militia, implemented to protect Dol-Makjar after the revolution and then kept to maintain public order.[14] Brethren Hall serves as a base for the Guard.[15]
Among the offices of the Guard are:
- Arcane Marshals:[16] one of the most active office of the Revolutionary Guard, seventy years after its creation. It is comprised of warriors who can detect magic and guard the city against undead and other threats[17]
- Enquirers[18]
- Gate Guardians[19]
- Patrolmen[19]
