Reiloran Shrikes are a subtype of reilora, the crimson entities which inhabit the red moon Ruidus, and were included in the forces around the activated Malleus Key in 843 PD. As of "Rush for the Bloody Bridge" (3x82), they had not been yet summoned by Imogen Temult using Summon Crimson Shade.
Description[]
Shrikes are thin and lithe, and wear spiked metallic headdresses with large mandibles extending to either side of their mouths. Their armor is made of a patchwork of thick hides, carved bone, and iron-like metals, with a segmented chest piece. It is covered in bladed spikes, and long blades extend from their gauntlets.[2] Chains wrap around their torsos and shoulders, ending in a foot-long hooked blade meant to stab and pull.[3]
Abilities[]
The Shrikes encountered by Bells Hells at the Tishtan excavation site around the activated Malleus Key and in Razora had the following abilities:
- Multiattack: Three attacks per round[4]
- Telekinetic chained spike attack: 30' reach, 7 points of piercing damage. Strength saving throw (DC ≥ 14) or target is pulled into melee with the wielder.
- Blade attack: Using the gauntlet blades, 7-11 points of slashing damage each.
- Telekinetic Shove: As a bonus action, if a creature fails a Strength save, it is pushed or pulled 5 feet.[5]
- Mind Blur: As a bonus action, can disappear from target person's sight.[6]
- Dampen Divinity: As a reaction, halves the amount of HP gained by an opponent using healing magic.[7]
- Speed: 50[8]
- Hit Points: 71 - 88
- AC: 18[9]
Blade Baron[]
The shrikes encountered in the laboratory in Kreviris and at the Mighty Nein's incursion into the Arx Creonum (referred to as "Blade Barons") displayed the following abilities:
- Telekinetic blades: As a Bonus Action, the shrike psychically surrounds itself with 3 glass blades that can be used to defend, attack (2d10 damage), and/or be moved.[10]
- Blade Storm: The shrike sends the blades against an enemy, doing 8d10 slashing damage on a failed Dexterity save.[11] Recharges on a roll of 6, unknown at lower.[12]
- Hit Points: 98-111
- AC: 22 (higher when its blades are nearby)[13]
- Dexterity: 16[14]
- Charisma: 10-11[15]

"Assault on the Malleus Key" (3x113) and "Fight for the Bloody Bridge" (3x114)[]
On Exandria, there were shrikes present around the Malleus Key to defend it when the army of the Exandrian Accord attacked, and some of them stayed around the Malleus Key, being killed by Vox Machina.
"To the Arx Creonum" (3x115)[]
There were shrikes defending the Arx Creonum when the Volition attacked it.
Trivia[]
- The shrike encountered in the Weave Mind laboratory in Kreviris was referred to as a "Blade Baron", and displayed slightly different characteristics to the shrike encountered earlier by the party.[17]
