Razora is a farming and ranching village located on Ruidus.[1]
Description[]

The village is scattered along a crevice among the mountains, and consists of a handful of homes built into the sides of the valley surrounded by paddocks holding wuukor.[2] The homes are simple, made of smoothed rock or domed thatch and dried mud, clustered between livestock paddocks and holding areas.[3]
Red brush and other plant life has been cultivated in some of the shaded sections of the broken rock where portions of the mountain have been carved away to make areas for planting sustainable crops to maintain the livestock.[4]
Inside the village itself, the homes are a little larger. At one side of the public square sit three larger houses, one of which is the residence of Elder Barthie.[5]
Society[]
The village exists as a food and hide producing center, providing supplies to the Imperium. It also trains avadon and other beasts for use by the Imperium military.[6]
It has a population of no more than 1000 inhabitants.[7] Although about a dozen of the reilora present act on behalf of the Imperium, supervising food and supplies production, the majority are simply farmers themselves.[8]
Demographics[]
These demographics were judged visually and probably do not include the cytaa, who are diminutive and commonly on the person of their symbiotic bormodos.
Notable People[]
- Barthie:[11] a bormodo village elder
- Dono:[13] a bormodo rancher and farmer
- Kaniey:[14] Dono's second cytaa
Culture[]
The locals used to have their own folklore and mythology transmitted in oral and written form, but the Imperium destroyed all written records of it. The villagers of Razora believed that all Ruidians were carved from the rock and given form by the dreams of the One Who Sleeps.[15]
History[]
Razora is one of several outposts that were once sovereign villages before being taken over by the Imperium generations earlier.[16]
Several weeks before Bells Hells arrived in the village in 843 PD, the inhabitants noticed Dreamers, Exandrians, began coming through.[17] Dono also noted that several Imperium-connected reilora left the village about three days before Bells Hells arrived there, and that recently there had been a demand for greatly increased production, which was creating tension and stress in the village.[18]
"Red Rural Revelations" (3x84)[]
Bells Hells visited the village while on their scouting mission to Ruidus, meeting with first Dono and then Elder Barthie before a battle broke out between the party and several Imperium forces.
"Intense Interrogations" (3x85)[]
After failing in their attempt to infiltrate the caravan of supplies visiting the village, and having made sure that the recent disappearance of Willmaster Edmuda did not harm Elder Barthie (by hitting him with his permission to make it appear who had confronted them) Bells Hells left Razora.
Trivia[]
- At night guard-like figures known as the shadow-hunters stay outside with their mounts.[19]
- Their name is very similar to that of the shadowhunters, a race of warriors with celestial ancestry created by the writer Cassandra Clare, and inspired by the biblical nephilim.
- According to Barthie, Razora does not have a prison per se. Minor crimes are punished with lashing and/or verbal reprimands, and if it is a more serious matter the criminal is sent to Kreviris.[20]
