Rab Agg is a dwarven monk. He is played by Daniel Sloss.

Description[]

Rab Agg by Eren Angiolini

Official art of Rab "Aggy" Agg, by Eren Angiolini.[art 2]

Aggy was a short tattooed dwarf with long, slightly gray hair pulled into a ponytail who appeared to have been an adventurer at one time, but had let himself go. When encountered by the Mighty Nein, he was wearing a blue kilt over which his beer gut slightly fell, impeding his reach into his sporran. His weapon holsters held two half-drunk green bottles of red tonic wine.[2]

Daniel noted Aggy looked like a very small, fat John Wick.[3]

Biography[]

The Mighty Nein encountered Aggy in the basement of the Rexxentrum Archive of the Cobalt Soul after a monk outside told them he had already sent in a friend of his, an investigator who had previously helped him with a personal problem.[4] When Fjord used See Invisibility to locate a hidden door and fired an Eldritch Blast at it, Aggy joined in with a headbutt, opening the door but setting off a trap and causing himself serious damage.[5] Further in, Aggy set off multiple traps leading the way down the stairs, finally headbutting a rune-carved alcove and setting off its disintegration trap, reducing himself into a fine dusting of powder.[6]

Character information[]

Notable items[]

  • Two half full green bottles holding a reddish tonic wine[7]

Appearances and mentions[]

Quotations[]

  • (to Caduceus) I am sorry if this is offensive, but are you a horse? (long pause) You can just say "nay".[8]

Trivia[]

  • He is the guest player character with the shortest time on the show, appearing for about 20 minutes before his death, surpassing the record set by Spurt in "The Endless Burrows" (2x50).[9][10]
  • One of Aggy's many tattoos has the word "Orphanmaker", a reference to Yasha Nydoorin. Eren Angiolini admitted the tattoo was an artistic choice, rather than Daniel's instruction.[11]
  • Matthew Mercer explained that Aggy's death was planned the same way that Bertrand Bell's was in Campaign Three: Bells Hells, he just didn't know how it was going to happen.[12]
  • Bringing Daniel Sloss to play a character was a last minute idea of Matt. However, Daniel was very nervous with the idea of being on stage with the cast for on long period of time, so Matt made his playtime around 30 minutes to an hour by making Aggy a very low level character in a room full of dangerous traps for level 20 characters so that he could be comfortable.[13]
  • Aggy suffered 129 points of damage in his short time with the Mighty Nein. His max HP was 43.
    • 38 necrotic damage from a dark rune on a hidden door handle to the Master Vault in the Vellum Basement of the Cobalt Soul.
    • +18 points of healing from Caduceus' Level 2 Cure Wounds.
    • 15 points of force damage from a runic glyph that was on the stairs heading down to the secondary balcony of the Master Vault.
    • 76 points of force damage from the Disintegration spell trap that was on a lockbox in the Master Vault.
