Lord Primus Tachonis is the current head of House Tachonis in Aramán and the father of Occtis Tachonis. As an NPC, he is played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.

Description[]

Primus is a tall, grave figure with sallow skin.[3] He is a cold and calculating man, displaying little emotion even toward his own family, and valuing them only if they're loyal and useful.[4] He seemed not to understand the shock and grief Julien Davinos felt when his father Raimond was gruesomely killed in front of him.[5]

Biography[]

Campaign Four: Overture[]

Lord Primus was first seen when he arrived in the office of Dean Ellipides Tallbarrel of the Penteveral, who was speaking with Murray Mag'Nesson at the time, looking for his son Occtis who was a student there. The family was in town for the execution of the traitor Thjazi Fang, and Primus hoped to talk with Occtis, who had apparently found a way to acquire "the gifts of shadow in the Realms Beyond" despite his lack of sorcerous talent. Murray was extremely rude to him, and he attempted to curse her although Murray could not see him casting the spell himself. When Murray attempted a Detect Magic, the Dean surreptitiously Counterspelled her, Messaging frantically for her to get out in an attempt to save her life. As she left, Primus told Tallbarrel to fire her.[6]

Later, Primus led an attack of undead on House Davinos. Materializing in front of Raimond Davinos, he reached into his head and pulled out his skull, killing him instantly.[7] Saying, "Tonight Davinos, Royce, and all their vassal houses end," he cast a Circle of Death which killed all the the retainers present; however, having been wounded by Sir Julien Davinos more than he expected,[8] he used the shadows to move to his son Ethrand Tachonis and Plane Shift them both away, threatening Thaisha about destroying "her path", leaving a horde of undead still attacking the Palazzo and taking the heart of Occtis with them.[9] Later, back in the Tachonis palace in the Underworld, he met with another Tachonis patriarch and used the heart of his eighth son to try and summon his spirit, but Occtis resisted the pull.[10]

  • His name means "the first" in Latin, and his eighth son, Occtis, is named in a similar manner, after his numeric place within the family.
  • During Julien's fight against Primus, Brennan told Matthew Mercer that from a certain point forward (after Julien dealt enough damage to realize Lord Tachonis was a powerful but very much mortal man), every attack made against that enemy while he had less than half of his hit points would be made with advantage.[19]
