A Potion of Maximum Power is a viscous purple liquid that a spellcaster can drink in order to maximize the damage of a spell.[5]
Description[]
Appearance[]
The potion of maximum power is purple and glows slightly.[6] It smells sweet,[1] but the taste is muddy.[7]
Properties[]
Once a spellcaster drinks the potion, the first damage-dealing spell of level four or lower that they cast within the next minute deals the maximum possible amount of damage.[8]
History[]
Pumat Sol offered to sell the Mighty Nein one of the two potions of maximum power[9] he had in stock at the The Invulnerable Vagrant, the other being destined for the front-line Empire mages in the then-ongoing War of Ash and Light.[10] He told the party that the potion "bolsters release of arcane power."[11] The party purchased the one on offer.[12]
Caleb consumed the potion in the fight against Lucien as the Neo-Somnovum on Cognouza.[13] The potion maximized the damage he dealt with Gravity Fissure.[14]
Trivia[]
In "Titles and Tattoos" (2x84), Matt indicates that the potion only works for arcane spells,[15] but the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount does not mention this limitation.[1]
