The Penteveral is an academy for the study of wizardry.[5]
Description[]
Located between the neighborhoods of Rozigar and the Embers, the Penteveral buildings blend in with the rest of the city. They are connected with one another by many small covered skybridges and their façades are colorful, made of red sandstone, alabaster and pink quartz from the Sunset Mountains.[6]
The Penteveral has a Great Hall where many important lessons have been given.[7]
History[]
The Penteveral was founded by five people of humble origins described as "poets and academics" from whom the its first deans were chosen, and were joined by urchins from Dol-Makjar brave enough to start expeditions to seek truths and secrets across Aramán.[8]
During the events of Campaign Four, the Revolutionary Council, influenced by the Chamber of Lords-Advisory, sent a letter to the academy to revoke its license to cast arcane magic on student grounds, unless Ellipides Tallbarrel, the then school's dean, resigned. The letter was a ploy set up by the Sundered Houses to sack him. Ellipides chose to resign rather than to accept the Revolutionary Council's terms.[9] The following day the now fifth dean of the Penteveral, Kora, took office and gave a speech praising the Sundered Houses and the significance of the number five; she also announced the Cormoray Scholarship for Arcane Service as a way to get new students.[10]
Notable people[]

Trivia[]
- Penteveral seems to be formed from the combination of the Ancient Greek πέντε (pénte) meaning "five", and probably from Latin vērus meaning "true" or verū̆ meaning a "pointy tip".[13]
- Brennan Lee Mulligan described the academy's symbol as being a "beautiful little glyph with five stations around it, almost like a pentagram."[14]
- The Penteveral also acts as a boarding school, having dormitories where students reside.[15]
